I'd say. I've played them, that's a bunch of 1-man show ballhogs that somehow rock out and take names. This might be from a guy who has never come within 10 goals of beating CSU in the fall, but...

Most of those guys, i'm actually amazed they show-up. They seem like the type of guys that wouldn't. And for Flip to keep that program running and up on top... wow.

But really I might get that impression because of a few guys and i'd imagine that within a couple years, they will be losing that talent, but growing as a team.

But is there life for CSU after Flip? What will that team look like?

Interesting analysis . . .
Always on point . . .

Well...

No offense Alex - I love the team - just think it's odd how they operate. Because I see teams such as several Division B teams, that do the same things and they get torn up.

Having gone back and watched the tape of the CSU/BYU game again, I couldn't disagree with you anymore.

Why wouldn't guys show up? As much as it pains me to say, (as a BYU grad), it's a fantastic program. You know you're going to be in the hunt every year. And based on Flip's journal, you know he prefers the run-and-gun style. I would think everyone would want to play in that style.

The most inpressive thing to me after watching them this season is the discipline at the midfield. When the break isn't there, they have no problem pulling it out and running a motion offense. This is something that is very difficult to teach I think. When you say you want to run, you have to be able to see when the break isn't there and not force it. CSU does this better than any team in the country.

Do they have great 1-on-1 players? Yes (see Farquhar's game winner v. Sonoma). But look at their big games (Sonoma, BYU, UCSB, CC) and look at the amount of goals that were assisted (41 total goals, 22 assists). Four of the top 10 assit men in the RMLC are from CSU.

That program has so many loyal alums, that program wil be around for a long time...or at least until the school forces them to join up with Front Range CC.

Some of my favorite Flip Quotes:

"So why dont we run that play where you dont walk in the crease"

"Yea...thats it, dont pick up the ground ball"

"Does anyone else want a cheeseburger"

"You know that thing your sopposed to do..you know, score?"

I had never laughed while getting beat so bad before, but some of the stuff that he was saying on the sideline was soo funny...
