Pitt Travels in to Battle BC and Bridgewater

Postby Gregg Pathiakis on Sat Apr 09, 2005 2:25 pm

The CCLA's #1 team, University of Pittsburgh, travels in to Massachusetts this weekend to play two strong PCLL opponents. Pitt takes on the Boston College Eagles at Tufts University on Saturday at 8 PM and then travels to Bridgewater State College on Sunday for an 11 AM start time.

Pittsburgh has been climbing in the USL MDIA Top 25 poll recently and finds themselves ranked 22nd in the nation. The Panthers are ranked first in their conference with wins versus Indiana, Central Michigan, Clemson, Auburn, and East Carolina. They suffered their first loss of the year last month against Oakland.

The PCLL's Boston College Eagles are also having a strong season. Until an overtime loss to New Hampshire on Friday, the Eagles have been undefeated in games versus Stanford, Cal, UC-Davis, Chico State, BU, and WPI. The Eagles are nationally ranked at #9.

Bridgewater State is right in the mix as well. Bridgewater loss their season opener to North Carolina State and their most recent game versus Stonehill but has beaten South Carolina, Santa Clara, Cal-Berkley, BU, UConn, and and NCAA D-3 Dean College.

Directions to Tufts' Bello Field
To Bello Field From Boston, the south, & the South Shore, follow the Southeast Expressway (Route 3 North) to Interstate 93 north to exit 32, Medford Square. Follow the exit ramp to Medford Square. At the blinker at the end of the ramp, turn left onto Main Street. *Follow Main Street for approximately 3/10 of a mile, keeping to the right of the Mobile gas station. Turn right onto George Street, then left onto College Avenue. Cousens Gym will be 100 yards on your right. Parking is on your left and there should be signs for Bello field.

From the north via Routes 1, 3, 128, Interstates 95 or 93, the recommended approach is via the circumferential Route 128 (Interstate 95) to its intersection with Interstate 93. Go south on Interstate 93 to exit 32, Medford Square. Proceed to the center of the square, turn left onto Main Street, and refer to the directions in the preceding paragraph.

Not to nit pick, but I'd have to say Pittsburgh is the #3 CCLA team, behind Michigan and Oakland. They just havn't gotten into the meat of their conference schedule yet.

I'll pick up on the updates where Tim left off. Brought to you by Gregg:

After 2 it was Pitt 5, BWS 4, and after 3 it's Pitt 9, BWS 5.
