Week #9 - 4/6 through 4/12 - Predictions, Scores, News

Postby exlax4 on Sat Apr 09, 2005 10:19 pm

WIU didnt play dordt today, I think that would be a score of the game between them and Nebraska. Dordt was supposed to play NW today but we got shuffled around due to some referees conflicts.

not that I would really mind being the player that scored 8 goals, but don't you think that it was a little excessive to keep a player in long enough to have that many points, in a game like that?

Wash U only has 5 to 6 guys on their bench. Two of which are currently injured, and another is a backup goalie, so eveyone who can run, runs the entire game. So they can't afford to pull a player because he's scoring a lot.

But you make a vaild point, if it were a team like CSU or UCSB playing Rhodes and they left their starters in.

Andrew, fair question. Sprout is correct and I will chime in here since I feel this question is directed at me.

Our backup goalie, is also our long stick middie at the moment when he is not between the pipes. Our four close defensemen, rotate as LSM when he is in the cage. My middies play both ways. This has been a stressful season for the team at Wash U.

Last fall, I was really unsure if we were going to be able to field a team come Spring. If you recall, we did not play in any fall ball games, this also included Wash U cancelling a game with SMS. This resulted in us cancelling our Spring Break trip where we were orginally scheduled to play Tennesse, Auburn, and Georgia on top of our current schedule. Additionally, we have lost players due to injuries and other committments. Three of my starters have sustanined knee injuries, and another is out the rest of the season due to a dislocated shoulder. This year has been a true lesson in perserverance for our team.

So, having subs is not a luxery that our team has Andrew. If I had them, I would play them. Every player that dressed last night, played the entire game.

Finally, for the record, the last thing I am concerned about at this point of the season is "padding" my players stats. We will however, continue to make the most out of the cards we were dealt this season.

John,
I wasn't trying to call you out, I was just curious the circumstances that that took place, and it was answered perfectly, thanks. I was unaware of the situation with a lack of numbers. The guys who have played this game for a while have probably played in a game or 2 somewhere along the line, where there were very few guys dressed. This can be tough for just a couple games, let alone an entire season. I give it up to you and your guys for going the distance like this. I wouldn't worry about padding stats either. Keep up the good work.

Andrew,

No worries. I didn't think you were calling us out and I thought you asked a very fair question. I thought I would elaborate a little deeper so people would get a better understanding of our situation at Wash U.

I could use some subs though, so anyone thinking of transering to Wash U let me know...

John, how's Paul Lee doing these days, he was a favorite of mine to watch play and play against. Got to give some love for my fellow LSMs.

Also got a brief text message, Iowa lost to Iowa State. No score was given but was told Iowa stunk it up. Not a good year to be wearing black and gold. Hopefully they can get a win next weekend to end the year as they are eliminated from playoff possibility.

Oh yeah, bumped into some ex-Illinois State guys down in San Diego today at a lax tourney. They told me Matt Zivilik broke I think his collarbone against Illinois on Friday and probably out for the year, that sucks.

wow, a lot closer score than I expected. Sounds like it was a pretty good game, and Mizzou hasn't fallen off as much as some might think!
