Georgia 4-1 GT

Georgia is 5-0 in mandatory games. Our loss to virginia tech was not a mandatory game.

We had actually talked to Auburn and UCF about the situation a month ago and tried everything we could do to still play it...so there were no suprises. It just didn't work out. I'm not happy about it, but that's the way it goes.
Say what you want but I think Vanderbilt has done extremely well with all of its obligations this year home and away, and played with class on and off the field. They have turned over a new leaf but Rome wasn't built in a day.

After the last few seasons of this nonsense and Vandy's being excused from the SELC, I would have thought that team leadership would have addressed scheduling issues last fall. At the very least, the game should have been re-scheduled as early as possible to allow UCF the chance to add an opponent...what if this were there parents' weekend or something? What is it going to take for Vandy to realize the definition of the word "committment?"

It only takes one instance of this type of lack of respect for the league to destroy all the great things Vandy has done to repair their former image.

here...try this, it fits better: www.ncll.com

A. This still doesn't excuse the late cancellation.

B. I'm sure the fraternity formals have been on the schedule for more then one month.

"Just didn't work out" is a very tired and weak excuse especially given Vanderbilt's track record over the last 15 years in and out of the SELC.

mandatory games

Postby ncsulacrosse on Wed Apr 06, 2005 11:20 am

will they change next year? i think we got pretty screwed getting UF and GT (the last two SELC winners) as our mandatory games, while Georgia gets south florida and ECU two new A teams.

Not really complaining, I know there is no perfect system to get this many teams in this much area into a perfect playoff system. Just curious if that will change next year, or remain.

The idea was/is to leave it the same for two years so that a home/away game can be managed.

If you think that's screwy, look at USC's home and away schedule. 1 mandatory game out of 6 was home (Georgia). Being with the team then, we scheduled Citadel and Bridgewater State just to give us some more home games.

Hey wow, doesn't just about every other school have fraternity formals as well?

And condsidering that just about every other team has not had to cancel games on short notice, Vandy they hadn't done "extremely well" - they had just done what was expected of them - do you want some kind of medal for doing what you signed up for?
your signature sucks.

I'm not sure of the details but due to field issues the UF- UCF game was postponed until further notice.

I don't understand how this is a major issue! If a team cancels at the last minute for a reason like that they forfeit the game. Why is this not the solution? To be clear, I'm addressing Vandy-UCF in this post!

Would you (player, coach, fan, parent, referee) appreciate it if another SELC team cancelled a game with you the week of the contest that had been scheduled since last September? Teams that cancel games at the last second are clearly not living up to their obligations as a SELC/MDIA program.

The game is not a forfeit, it is a non-contest. The NCAA rulebook has clear definitions of what a forfeit is. It's up to the SELC Executive Board to decide what penalties Vanderbilt will face from this point forward.

Clemson will be playing Friday at 7PM against USC at Clemson. This a rescheduling of last week's game.

CLUB lacrosse...yeah vandy's track record has not bee the greatest in recent years and yes the formals were decided upon a long time ago, but just for all you wannabe NCAA lax players out there you might notice that some people might put more commitment yeah commitment(Hugh Nun, that was one of my SAT words, and no i don't realize the definition, i understand it) to something other than lacrosse. It's a bad situation for Vandy to be in, but since all you girls are getting your panties in a bunch over one canceled game this season Vandy is putting together a make shift team to field against the powerhouse of central flordia... Serisouly, does this game have any implications on the outcome os the SELC anyway, or is this just a rant by some pissed-off former lax players that didn't have enough talent to play on legit college teams who decided to allocate that anger in the direction of kids who know actually thier role in the lax world :?: :?: :?:

It's a dance at an offcampus location. Usually a few hours away. Not everyone in fraternities go to them. It's the person's choice whether to go or not. I guess they value that dance and the tshirt they'll get, more than their team mates and the sport.
