Week #9 - 4/6 through 4/12 - Predictions, Scores, News
Western Illinois is very excited to play @ both Nebraska and Crieghton this weekend. Both games should be very close and should give all three teams a sense of where they stand in the GRLC.

the NWC @ Dordt game is currently trying to be rescheduled. We have not decided on a date yet. It is my understanding that Dordt is trying to get it scheduled for this Friday night due to families coming in just for this game.

Not that it makes a big difference but SMS plays Mankato on Friday, then Iowa State on Saturday.
I'm interested to see the outcome of the Mizzou @ Lindenwood game. Should be a good judgement for where Mizzou stands after their rocky start.

So here's a cute question. Supposing that Mizzou happens to do well against Lindenwood and perhaps beat them, will that vindicate their early season woes? Will it adequately provide for discussion as to who is better in the GRLC? Will it just make for more of a clutter up top seeing as how Illinois did in fact beat said Tigers?
Answers in apathetic assonant prose form please.

I can give you a pathetic response, but nothing assonant, as I like to vary my vowel sounds. I think Mizzou playing a close game or beating Lindenwood would vindicate their tough early season schedule, as it would have had to helped prepare them for tougher competition. And considering league games are the one's that really matter, then the tough losses would definitely be worth it. For the league as a whole, I think it would hurt the image of the GRLC as their only ranked team would lose to an unranked team, and would provide fodder for all of the other leagues to dump on the GRLC. Even if Mizzou wins, I would say that Lindenwood would still be the prohibitive favorite to win the GRLC tournament. Unfortunately, even if Lindenwood wins handily, it probably wouldn't help their national ranking.

Very nice use of emotions, however, I was looking for an apathetic response, not a pathetic one. So in that sense, you failed your mission seeing as how your response was anything but pathetic. So what happens if Illinois pulls it out and beats Lindenwood? They did after all lose by 1 in overtime way back when, and besides, they had some decent OOC showing elsewhere. so what happens if Illinois wins it all in your famed "GRLC?"

I think if Illinois or Wash U. or Mizzou were to win the GRLC tourney, and I would not be exceptionally surprised if a team like Illinois did, as they have not always been the most talented team in the league, but they always play a great team game and run sets that tend to throw teams off, then I would hope that Lindenwood would still get a bid to the tournament in Blaine. I know it would be almost impossible to have 2 GRLC teams at nationals, though, given the public perception of the league as a whole, and the poor performances in playoff's in previous years from GRLC teams. It seems like many in the MDIA can't wait to see Lindenwood lose, and they would probably call it poor performance by Lindenwood instead of a great performance by the team that beat them. The important thing is that from what I have seen, all of the GRLC teams play with class and would all represent the GRLC well in nationals, but I think it would take quite an effort to take down Lindenwood with the way they've been playing lately.

agreed. it's been kind of the same way here in the lsa the whole season. i suppose for a lot of people down here and perhaps up there, it's a building year of sorts. i truly hope that whoever represents the grlc will do so very well this year. then again, i remember wash u. doing decently well enough two years ago....

I don't think that anyone wants to intentionally see Lindenwood lose, except for the teams that they are playing, perhaps. One thing for sure is that if they did lose, they would almost certainly not make the tournament. The final at-large may have to be rated around #13. If Lindenwood lost, it would have to be against an unranked team, which would drop them below the #15 that they are rated now. Realistically, they would have to win the GRLC AQ to get in.

What I meant by that was Lindenwood always seems to come up in the "over-rated teams" discussion, and it seems like there are lots of people on the message board that make a bunch of predictions and quickly say "I told you so" when they get one prediction right. So I guess they are not necessarily rooting for them to lose, but they definitely wouldn't let it go unnoticed. And I agree that the GRLC has zero chance at getting an AQ, but that is the nature of the beast with so few AQ's and the stacked leagues out west.
