I knew the USL MDIA created the new rule that schools that play Div. I football must be Div. A. I don't entirely agree with it, especially in the case of Wyoming where lacrosse is so new it can hardly compete in Div. B. But those are the rules.
I was also pretty sure schools like Wyoming and Boise that were supposed to be Div. A teams but played in Div. B weren't eligible for any USL MDIA AA or academic AA lists.
So are they not eligible for national recognition, but still eligible for conference recognition?

To be fair to Boise, no one from their team has ever said that they would beat the top teams in Div. A. It seems like no matter what this team does, they are criticized. If they stay up and lose, people tell them they suck and if they go down and win, people say it's unfair. Lacrosse in Idaho still has some way to go, but if they keep developing the youth leagues and get solid coaching from the staff that has been there for a couple years, they will improve and challenge for the fourth slot in the A playoffs soon. Personally, I think I would prefer to play the A schedule if I were a player so that if we did beat a Utah or Utah State there would still be a chance at the RMLCs. What is too bad is that now their season will be for basically nothing since they can't win either division. Location certainly plays a role since basically no one wants to travel to Boise, either A or B.
Onpoint, thanks for the post. I'm glad that someone else out there realizes the stuff that we go through out here in the land of potatoes.
Just come to the PNCLL, we won't be mean to you and then that way hopefully we would have enough teams for a A Division East and West and we wouldnt have to make that trek to Eastern Washington and Idaho. I promise we will be nice to you guys!
Timbaland, thanks for the invite to the PNCLL, we'll take it under consideration and let you know.

Honestly, the biggest thing for Boise to consider is the location. If it would be easier to travel to and from Boise from the PNCLL, I don't think you are going to hear a whole lot of argument from the RMLC about not having to go up to Boise once every two years.
Always on point . . .

Hey now, let's not jump the gun just yet. I believe there are several steps in jumping leagues, above all we haven't even given a thought as to 2005-2006. We are focused on this year and this year alone. Any further discussion of changing leagues will have to be after the season is over.

You know something that would really make me applaud? A guy gets stuck in quicksand, then sinks, then suddenly comes shooting out, riding on water skis! How do they do that?!

We will be there...and so will the rest of Division B. Because of the new B Championship, the league decided to let everyone in for playoffs (regardless of record) for a shot at the AQ. Guess this really leaves the door open for a team to come into playoffs and have a "cindarella" moment.

Thanks for the comments. We really appreciate it here in Idaho. We are looking forward to the upcoming season.

I could see why Boise St. would want out. No AA, no chance at Blaine. What are you playing for?
I do not understand how you can ask 25 lacrosse players from Boise State why they are playing a game that they obviously are obsessed with and why they are playing a full 16 game schedule if we dont get All American status.
This is my final year with Boise St. and it would be nice to see, if it works out, that some of the guys could be noticed for all league/american status.
The bottom line is that we play the game to play the game, and the competition that Div A or Div. B teams have. We all love this game so that should be enough of a reason to play.
I think if you are playing for the post season awards, then perhaps you need to look in a mirror and see if your trying to make up for something your lacking in your confidence.

If there was NO shot of winning a championship what difference is college lacrosse from Summer league? You play for the championship, not just to have a swell time with some friends, thats what the old-mens league is for(no offense to old guys out there, in a few years i will be one of you).
No comment on that one

1. Playing for your college.
2. Playing against other colleges.
When BYU plays Colorado State in a summer league game, please let me know.

JHBYU33,
I doubt you really feel that way.
Reasons why you play lacrosse other than just a championship:
1. Cameron or Jared on your left
2. Brian or Paul on the crease
3. Tyler up top
4. Tsags and Zach on the corners
There are four reasons whyyou work your butt off each day. And you know they do the same for you.
If those reasons don't suffice how about number 5
5. A box of Otter Pops.

Fair enough. As a coach that is how I would want the whole team thinking.
However speaking as one 6 years removed from playing in college, the things I remember most are the guys I played and coached with, not the games we won. They are some of my best friends. They are why I will be leaving from a meeting in North Dakota early to play in the alumni game on March 5th.
Of course we expect you to win.
Keep working hard brother.
P.S. I will also be making a detour from a trip in Texas to watch the last two game in AZ, and I'll try to bring the Otter Pops for the win against NY Tech.
P.P.S. I'm watching you.
