Isn't there an MDIA rule that teams must have an adult who is not a player as the coach?

Goznzaga complies with our PNCLL Guidelines that state that each team "Must have an adult, non-player, non-rostered coach at every game." The Zags have an Assistant Coach or coaches in the sideline coaches area during the game. I'm not sure if (by NCAA Rule) anybody else but Kladis can call timeout from the sidelines -- unless a sideline coach is designated as the "Head Coach" for the game by prior agreement? That would be my guess. I'd also guess that Rick plans to continue coaching somewhere after he graduates this Spring, but that is pure speculation on my part.

Southern Oregon and Willamette played one of the most fun games I have been a part of in a long time. Willamette's D played great, finally coming together and playing as a tough unit, our goalie stepped up HUGE from his first game two weeks ago, I don't know the exact stats but 20 saves is probably a safe underestimate.

Southern Oregon is a classy, CLASSY bunch of guys. I am so happy that they are a part of our league and can't wait till we play them again next week and in the years to come. The PNCLL is lucky to have you guys, thanks for the game and we will see you next Sunday.

Montana 9
UPS 6

We couldn't get past Montana's ride. It seemed like every defensive stop we got ended up being another Montana possession. They are the real deal, and were very impressive. After hearing a few stories about them showing up late to Boise (literally), I really wasn't sure what team to expect, Boise was a good team. I would have loved to see Montana play UVSC that weekend, but maybe we can convince them both to come to our invitational next year. Their game against PLU was a bit heated, and the game seemed to be played a lot closer than the score appeared, but my players only had good things to say about them on the field.

I hope #8 is doing well, and we hope to get another shot at you in the playoffs. Good job Montana.

John and Central, thanks for everything. It was also great to play you guys, and you were wonderful hosts. Thanks for everything!

Montana puts itself in driver seat

Montana 9 UPS 6

This was a big weekend for University of Montana Lacrosse club. It was a test of how they matched up against the B divsions best and proved to be one of those teams by beating PLU 12-6 and UPS 9-6. The team played very well this weekend, working hard on D and finishing on O. Also, I think after this weekend and the fact the other top 3 B teams lost to Boise State, Montana would be well deserved to earn the #1 seed in the B playoffs. One more thing, I think Kevin Flynn, the coach of the Griz, has done an amazing job this year. He turned this team around and they are destined for a trip to Nationals and I dont know if there is such an award, but he should "Coach of the Year" in PNCLL B division.

Score?

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Sun Apr 03, 2005 10:27 pm

Anybody have the Whitman-Western Washington score?

Congrats to the Zags on the huge win to almost clinch a playoff spot. "Almost" because it is still possible for Oregon State to finish 2-3 and either: Win a three-way tie-breaker at 2-3 with Gonzaga and Oregon, or to finish above the Ducks if UO finishes 1-4, which lots of us would love to bet against happening. But it is still possible statistically -- as is Idaho making the playoffs by beating UO and OSU.

Congrats to Montana on a pair of huge wins. The Grizz have not clinched the B-East Division yet, though, and the season-finale with Whitman could still prove decisive -- depending on results of other games of course.

HUGE

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Sun Apr 03, 2005 11:32 pm

Thanks Tim.

Guess the Grizz are just about ready to pop the cork on some sparkling cider, as Whitman now has 2 losses in B-East (WWU of B-North was a division game this year), and Western is still alive in the hunt for a playoff spot. Congrats to the Vikings on a big win for them. Whitman still very much alive too.

Montana

Postby Dr. Jason Stockton on Sun Apr 03, 2005 11:59 pm

Congrats to the Grizz on going 2-0 this weekend against PLU and UPS, the two teams ranked above them in the US MDIA division B rankings.

Montana is as good as advertisede. They have all of the tools to win the whole enchilada, but I wouldn't book any flights just yet. I still feel that any one of 4 or 5 teams could end up winning this thing. The separation from the first seed to the sixth seed in the B division playoffs is really just a few goals and it should make for a very exciting finish to this season.

Thanks to Central for hosting a great weekend of lacrosse. Your team battled until the final whistle and made us work hard for the win today. Your program has improved incredibly over the past two years - keep up the great work.

LC - 4
Linfield - 10

We had a wonderful time at Linfield last Saturday. PIOLax and Linfield have had a checkered past over the last four years, but this game made up for all of it. Even though emotions ran high at times and Linfield's fans never let up, everyone from both teams had a fun time. I think even the officials were having a good time.

Also, I have to give credit to Linfield's fans: you guys were hilarious. Did you get a hold of our roster? It sounded surprised us that you knew not only our names but our nicknames as well. There were some comments that had everyone from both teams laughing.

In closing, even though we lost, we had a great time. Thanks to Linfield and to Tim for the hospitality. I would wish you luck but I don’t think you need any.

concerns

Postby Ballaholic on Mon Apr 04, 2005 2:41 am

Thanks Kyle for a good game and the good sportmanship your team represented today. #8, Joe English from Portland OR, went to the hospital in Ellensburg after taking an outside shot to the neck. He is doing fine, except for a nice shiner, and is back in Missoula. Also, thank you for providing water bottles to the team during the PLU game.

I know both PLU and UPS are looking foward to future matchups in the playoffs, so are we. I hope you guys can make a trip to beautiful Missoula next year, so we can have an actual "home" game.
