What!!!! That really shakes things up for the SLC tournament. Now ASU goes in as the #2 and GCU as #1. I would almost rather be the #2 team in the north. You get one more home game plus you play GCU instead of ASU.

This may be interesting for some people. We use the following method to do our poll at BYU. Our poll looks very different than the one released each week. We put high emphasis on wins. Who did you beat, and how good are they (not when you beat them, over the course of the season)?. I can pin point a few teams I think are severely over ranked and few very under ranked through our method. The most interesting thing to me is how similar Chapman and GCU's resumes are. Either GCU should go way up, or Chapman way down.

We work on making sure we judge by body of work, not just what have you done for me lately, and I think this methodology gives a good over view of that body of work.

Great analysis. What are your rankings? Do you factor close losses into that. I ask that because the three close losses for GCU are pretty impressive and were building blocks to their eventual win over ASU. Here are my current rankings. I use margin of victory/loss as a tie breaker for teams that have similar resumes. I don't subscribe to the idea of "good loss". I don't think teams should be rewarded for losing games to tops teams, but I also don't punish them as much for losing those games.
