Duluth and MSU are very lucky to hold onto those top 16 spots. Definitely be rewarded for past performance or preseason ranking because they have not done a thing this year to deserve those spots.

Well, I'm not sure there is anyone you could put ahead of them because the teams below them have such convoluted records. Maybe we could just skip the rankings from 13-18 and start MSU at #18

I just think that the default if you are having trouble ranking teams should be to speculate on their rankings based on close game, road games, etc. Not on how they did last season or based on the preseason poll. I think MSU will finish the season strong with at least one or two signature wins, but not enough to get them in as an AL if they do not win the CCLA. With Pitt and Davenport in that conference, it could be tough to win.

I would agree there are many teams with similar resumes, but I also think some of these rankings are reflections of past performance.

Michigan State is a perfect example. They are likely a Top 15 / Top 10 team. I haven't seen them play, but there is a lot of talent on that roster so you have to assume they are just getting rolling after a long layoff to open the spring. However, at the end of the day, their only win is over UMD with losses to CSU (by 6 goals) and Simon Fraser.

They are ranked two spots ahead of Oregon State who has a similar resume with a win over Sonoma and losses to Stanford and Simon Fraser. How do we explain that? Judging from the recent polls, the pollsters believe Sonoma is a top 10 team and UMD is a top 15. However, OSU is ranked below Michigan State despite having similar losses, but the "better" win.

Anyhow, overall, anything past 10 is difficult to vote on right now due to the mixture of wins and losses.

This year there seems to be a lot of A beats B, B beats C and C beats A. Oregon's last chance to rise in the polls was their match with BYU. Stanford and CAL have some tough division matches to go. Interesting to see how far Cal Poly has fallen this year, I guess they miss their dynamic threesome at attack. I think the big game between Stanford and CAL will be especially interesting this year.

I have been around the PNCLL for almost twenty years, and don't remember it ever being this wide-open with three teams vying for supremacy. Regardless of whether the Ducks or Beavers prevail in the regular season matchup, it looks to be a three-team race between UO, OSU and SFU for the title. There really isn't a dominant PNCLL team in 2013. Boise State is the best of the rest, but the Broncos' convincing win at UW didn't count towards playoff seeding. The upcoming April conference games will decide the playoff seedings, and the tournament should be very interesting to watch.

I have been around the PNCLL for almost twenty years, and don't remember it ever being this wide-open with three teams vying for supremacy. Regardless of whether the Ducks or Beavers prevail in the regular season matchup, it looks to be a three-team race between UO, OSU and SFU for the title. I think that if their are no other conference upsets, they should be good. But if BC loses in the PCLL, there could be issues for the Ducks. I'm pretty sure that the CCLA will only send their AQ (Pitt, Davenport, or MSU) even with all of the talent. Same with the SELC (Richmond, Va Tech, Ga Tech, Auburn, Clemson, FSU, Georgia), which is a conference that is a real toss up. What would really help a team like Oregon or BC if they get upset is the fact that the UMLL does not have an AQ.

9 AQs and 7 ALs. That's one more AL bid. 4 ALs will go to the RMLC and SLC. That leave 3 for the rest of the MCLA.

The Ducks need to win out the rest of the season or they will be on the bubble. I agree both the Civil War game and the PNCLL will be especially interesting this year. In comparison with many years the Ducks have a smaller team and only 4 seniors playing. They definitely had a tough time on spring break in the bay area. Almost done editing the Oregon CAL game.
