Over 2200 views is a decent start for an April fools joke... Now if only they chose someone that people would trust to bring the news..... :D

You have to give the folks over at CSU credit. When you've gone 11-0, gained the #1 ranking in the country (and beaten the # 2,3, and 4 teams) you've earned the right to mock the rest of the league.

Just an FYI, it was a joke, and "the people at CSU" had nothing to do with it. They were in as much of a panic as the rest of you people. Sonny and I were the two "brainchilds" of this thing that got a lot more buzz than I was thinking it would. CSU was as much a victim (if not more) than everyone else. Read some of your responses here:

I assume this is about Team Genisis whipping CSU and applying for entrance into the USLIA...

Was this letter about wanting to take on Landon or another top high school team?

I would hope that they pick Denver over Ft. Collins sense they are building a new stadium here just for soccer and lacrosse

If this is the case, I think thats how it should be done. Thats whats keeping most of the club teams in MDIA in my opinion. I'm sure a handful of the better MDIA teams could go D-I (talent wise) but some teams might not want to because of the fear of all these recruits coming in from highschool. The club players don't want to get displaced. If they're going D-I, they should keep their roster in tact. This is what college lacrosse needs. In the new Inside Lacrosse, Pietrimala (sp?) from Hopkins talks about how every aspect of lacrosse is blowing up (high school teams, girls teams in college, and professional) except for the men's college game. He makes the point that most schools have club teams but are having problems getting to varsity. This is a big step, and hopefully, more schools will take CSU's example (if the varsity thing is true).

Speculate much? I don't care who you are, that there's funny.

They seemed to have forgotten the key word in April Fool's Joke. A "joke" is supposed to be funny, humorous, or at least mildly amusing. This is just dumb. Does anyone remember that there is a 4th Powell brother? Now if they told me he was on his way to CSU, that might have been funny but this isn't really doing it for me.

Not funny because you bought it? Hmmmm. Chill, people.

The real joke is how much everyone got into an uproar. Now go back to work.

You forgot these quotes:

by my watch it is not yet april fool's day...but i can't help feeling like we're being set-up.

My first thougt is "April Fools".

This has got to be an April Fools joke. Just don't beleive this.

its gotta be an april fools joke. sonny would have responded to the contrary if it wasn't.

Posting in the "Premium Members" forum, being asked to keep it here, Alex with his "something is afoot post" earlier in the day.

Quote from Sonny:
"Sorry to bear such bad news. This sucks on so many levels, I can't being to even describe it."

Give that man an Oscar, almost brought a tear to my eye.

I also heard that a 6' 7" Ogre named Shrek just got an appointment into the Naval Academy, hopefully he will relieve some pressure after Dingman's departure.

With April 1, 2005 directly under the story it was a clever, well thought out, intricate joke...

Who agrees that "April Fool's" is the most sorry excuse to give a specific day a wacky, zany moniker?

I don't pity the people who fell for the CRAZY, WACKY "fool", but the people who actually are in stiches at how clever they think it was. This isn't an attack on any one or two individuals, but the day that has always been pretty stupid to me...

Let me know what you guys think :D  :? 8) :( 8)

This has been bothering me all day. Technically I guess the brainchild would be the hoax itself. Not sure what that makes Sonny and I. Although I did claim another victim when I heard from a certain famous long stick middie a few minutes ago asking me why I hadn't told him about the situation before releasing it over the internet. Good thing he is a good lacrosse player . . . :D

I'm not sure how they got word, but the club sports office at CSU recieved a call from 7 News about the story. And to second Alex's point is that most of the players at CSU still did not know it was a joke at todays game against Mines.
