For UVSC, you probably mean James Simmons. James is face-off mid #23, and a hell of a player. UVSC played Western, don't remember Jason, Chris is an excellent middie. I think #12 on Fort is a solid middie as well.

i also don't remember anyone from the western game, if you are refering to #8, (i'm assuming that is Jason Humphery), i saw something in that game from him that i have never seen in lacrosse before. The coach called him off the field and he waved his coach off. The coach called him off again and he wouldn't go. His whole team started yelling at him, but he still wouldn't go. I'm not bashing western, and if #8 isn't jason humphery, i'm sorry, but for someone to be the best middie in D-B, he needs to be a team player in my eyes.
as for Brodie, he is very good, as his brother james. heard good things about chris, and honestly havn't been overly impressed with any of the other middies i've seen from the teams we've played (and not saying anything about the UVSC middies). Boise had a stong line, excited to see UNC this weekend.
Oh...thats so hot!

ktrost58 you are right with the whole coming off the field thing i played with him last year and he just dosnt understand the game of lacrosse from a subsitutiom point of view. He thnks he has to do it all himself . Although you have to give him props for being the #1 scoring midfielder in the conference (B) he can also take anyone to the cage at will. Western did also have a terrible game vs. UVSC and kept losing in cali so somthing needs to change in gunnison. The road for them dosnt get easier either they play colorado and montana state this weekend in boulder. Does UVSC still have that LSM #2 ? Because he is also one of the top middies in the leauge in my eyes. Also watch out for Dave Szynskic#9 a freshman middie at Western leading the confernce in assists with 15.

Best Middies

Postby MountaineerLax on Thu Mar 31, 2005 11:32 pm

Western State - my old love. I too played with J. Hump ( #8 ) and Dan Dohler (the other guy on this post). Good guys. Hump is definitley a unique player. Picked upa stick for the first time and just started scoring goals. He goes one-on-one way too much, just like a lot of the other Western State guys. Once they start to realize that they can be much more effective TOGETHER they will succeed and UVSC, FLC, and others will bow down.... but until then it's just about personal stats, and sadly that won't win any awards. Dave is probably the best player i've seen play at WSC. He's a team player, fundamentally sound, I tip my hat to his high school coach. I just hope that he holds onto that mentallity and doesn't get sucked into the hole that many other WSC players have been pulled into - seeing their name on the top while the team name is on the bottom. When he matures, assuming he doesn't transfer, he's going to be a great leader and great influence on the rest of the team. This is Dave's team for the taking... he just has to pay his dues to earn it. But it's his to lose or gain.

If you are referring to Tommy, the 2nd team AA-div. B, he is #1 on UVSC, not #2, and, yes as good an LSM as I have seen.

alex deppert from boise ranks #30 in thr conference in scoring at 20g and 9a while westerns jason humphery has led all midfielders in scoring the enitre year in the enitre conference he ranks #12 with 27g and 12g in 12 games for the mountaineers. I do think alex will get the nod for a 1st team all confernce selection along with jason humphery and UVSC james simmons who had 30 and 7 this year to lead a strong wolverine team.

Is scoring all that matters to a midfielder. Alex deppert has won more faceoffs than i can put on here....including 90% of them against Western

It's fine to think that Alex Deppert is a great middie, but hopefully he gets no recognition in the All Conference or All American voting. According to the stats available at http://rmlax.com/ Alex Deppert has been playing each season since 2001.

Alex Deppert took a RED SHIRT last year because of a separated shoulder
