That is precisely the problem. The Pac-10 is run by morons. Their TV contract is keeping them from getting the national respect they deserve. . .which is exactly why the SEC always has more top-10 and top-25 teams than the Pac-10. They are a well-run conference, while the idiots leading the Pac-10 and their TV contract leaves them less exposed than the WAC and therefore under-ranked across the board.

FSN and Versus? What is this, hockey?

The Pac-10 is much better than their national rankings would have you believe. . .and they typically do quite well in OOC games vs. other conferences. . .

And no, I'm not saying the Pac-10 is better than the SEC because Cal beat Tennessee. . .it was just a very recent example of how close the two conferences are. . .yet one gets all the love and the other wallows amongst the under-ranked.

And the primary reason is the TV contract. If they had Notre Dame's TV contract their rankings would look very similar to those from the SEC.

They have no one to blame but themselves and the directors of the conference.

Brauck,
I found something that has convinced me beyond a doubt that the Pac-10 is indeed the greatest football conference in the US, bar none.

I give you this evidence, exhibit #1:

Oregon's Jonathon Stewart Comic Book

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0806/cfb.oregon.comic.book/content.1.html

Take a gander at page 14 of 16. Now that alone proves that this is fiction beyond a shadow of a doubt.

don't be jealous, would have worked out if dennis wasn't hurt, but probably would have been him holdin up the trophy instead of Jonathan. I don't see how this stuff got banned, should be totally legit. NCAA is no fun with all their recruiting rules, no comic books, no free flights in Nike's, i mean Oregon's, jet.

I saw the Oregon jet at Sea-Tac airport the other day. . .It's a Horizon jet with a bunch of ugly giant green O's all over it. It's a Bombardier CRJ-700. . .I must admit I was a little disappointed. I assumed Phil Knight lended them the company Gulfstream.

That is just a bunch of ghetto planes that Horizon did. There is a UW one, WSU one I think, and even a garbage black and orange one for some other school in the state of Oregon.

Hello everyone. This is my first post so I'll start it off right. In the debate about OOC sheduling and which conference is harder I thought we should take a look at the best team from each conference and their schedule.

if the season started now and we used the espn preseason poll

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/s ... id=3459463

UGA would be playing
#5 Florida-Jacksonville
#10 @Auburn
#12 @LSU(2007 Nat'l Champs)
#14 Tennessee
#15 @Arizona State

USC would be playing
#2 Ohio State(2007 Nat'l losers)
#15 Arizona State
#25 Notre Dame
All Home Games

Since they both play ASU lets take them out of the mix. UGA plays four teams in the top 15, two in the top 10, and one in the top 5. Wheras USC plays two teams in the top 25 and one team in the top 5.
UGA plays ASU at ASU, I dont see USC traveling for their tough OOC game against 3-7 Notre Dame or tarveling to face the 2-time defending Nat'l Championship game losers(who got embarrassed by the SEC).

The SEC teams do not schedule many "tough" OOC teams because there is no need. When half of your schedule is playing ranked teams already, there are no "tough" OOC teams (ask Hawaii).

Ok so even the PAC 10 fans are saying that Arizona State is garbage and overrated...so that's 1 of USC's 3 ranked opponents. Notre Dame...well...we won't even go there. AND they're all home games?

Please. All of the PAC 10 fans need to, as it is said on the streets of the A, "check themselves before they riggity wreck themselves" considering all of those USC games are at home...and UGA has to travel to LSU, Auburn, and the Florida game which is IN Florida.

Lets not forget how many different National Championship teams the SEC has had in the past 10 years as opposed to the Pac 10.

This is precisely my point. I don't personally think that the top-5 teams in the SEC are all better than teams 2-5 in the Pac-10. . .but they are ranked significantly higher. I think the pollsters have it wrong - which again leads me to say the Pac-10 is UNDERRATED and they only have themselves and their TV contract to blame.

Top-to-bottom, the PAC-10 is as good as it gets. . .maybe not as many top teams as the SEC. . .but then again there are only 10 teams in the conference.

The following is a list of the Pac 10 and SEC bowl games of last year. This list shows that the Pac 10 teams play bad teams and lose and can only beat either A) teams from small conferences i.e MWC or B) barely beat the bottom barrel teams from major conferences i.e. Maryland.

The SEC plays teams that are equally too or greater than with the exception of Hawaii and Wisconsin.
The mere idea that #5UCLA is better than #5 Florida or #4 Oregon could beat #4 Auburn or #3 UGA would lose to Oregon State or even #2 Tennessee losing to a #2 ASU who got smoke by the fourth best team in the big 12 is ridiculous.

Look at the caliber of opponents. There is no way teams 2-5 in the Pac 10 would stand a chance to the 2-5 in the SEC

Pioneer Las Vegas
BYU 17, UCLA 16
UCLA #5 in the Pac 10, BYU #1 in the MWC

Pacific Life Holiday
Texas 52, Arizona State 34
Arizona State #2 in the Pac 10, Texas #4 in the Big 12

Emerald
Oregon State 21, Maryland 14
Oregon State #3 in the Pac 10, Maryland #8 in the ACC

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces
California 42, Air Force 36
California #7 in the Pac 10, Air Force #2 in the MWC

Brut Sun
Oregon 56, South Florida 21
Oregon #4 in the Pac 10, USF #4 in the Big East

Rose Bowl presented by Citi
USC 49, Illinois 17
USC #1 in the Pac 10, Illinois #2 in the Big 10

AutoZone Liberty
Mississippi State10, UCF 3
MSU #7 in the SEC, UCF #1 in Conference USA

PetroSun Independence
Alabama 30, Colorado 24
Alabama #8 in the SEC, Colorado # 5 in the Big 12
