Was it just me or did the picture go out on the game for extended periods of time. I missed 2 goals in the second half.

I knew Turkey would give them a game and Germany did not deserve to win that at all. Russia will push Spain to the brink this afternoon but Spain have too much quality all ove the field. Russia will probably beat them at tactics and positioning, however, the game changes when Fabregas comes into the game (he should be starting).

Lightning in Switzerland took out the picture for everyone including ESPN (and all across Europe).

The replay of the game on ESPN is funny as the announcers had to re-dub the new video and they were foreshadowing a bunch since they knew what was going to happen.

Glad to see Cesc come on and take control, but sad that it was at the cost of David Villa being hurt and won't be able to play in the Final. Cesc will have to keep up his top form to take on the Germans.

its funny. you guys know im playing this fantasy game for the Euro and they only gave Cesc 1 assist. i thought sure that he got 2, and i cant figure out which one they wouldnt have given him. Can ya'll help?

1. he flicked the ball over the defense for Guiza, who took a touch on his chest and another with his foot past the goalkeeper.
2. he crossed it on the ground into the box for Silva, who took one touch to steady it and then drove it into the bottom corner.

Which one was not an assist?

Got to say I thought they were both assists, but if they are going to hose him on one of them it was probably the Guiza one cause he trapped it first? I really don't see how he didn't have two assists either.

Extremely disturbing history of the stadium, makes you scratch your head why they chose it, or why it still stands for that matter. But oh well, if you ask any Germans or Austrians I think the programmed response is "that period of history has been sensationalized by the West and we do not discuss it."

A professor in college I had who was educated in Germany told me that if you can read German, the plaques at any Holocaust sites in Germany actually say things to the effect of "this site is said by some to have housed these travesties, however as you can see it is a much nicer place today."

I don't think that's it at all. I have a lot of German friends and to be frank-I think to them and many others, I think it's an embarrassing time of their history.

I spent a semester in college studying in Germany, and toured a few concentration camp sites, with the German speaking tours. Just behind us, an English speaking tour followed, so I could hear their tour guide as we were walking away.

At every point, the German tour guide gave us far more information - much of it horrific detail about the torture - followed by the English speaking guide giving a very abbreviated version of what happened at that point.

I found Germans to be very aware of what happened and conscious not to repeat that course. It's the Japanese who hide their history from the school books - nothing about what really happened in China (especially Nanking), Phillipines, Pearl Harbor or torture and medical experiments on POWs.

Same thing happened to me in Spain. I was on a muli-national tour in Seville with a tour guide that was speaking in 4 different languages. He would stop at one site and give a 10 min speech in Spanish with jokes and sob stories, then he would give a 7min speech in French with a joke, then a 5 min speech in Italian, then a sentence in English that basically said, "This is a church, it was built in this century, it has nice murals inside." It was f-ing ridiculous

Sounds like motivation to learn another language to me.....I'm not trying to downgrade anyone, but the fact that the tour guides are presenting in 4 different languages is awesome. The fact that some of us arent happy that we cant understand them is sad.

I do agree that the tour guides should give the same amount of info in each language, but think to yourself honestly how much effort you would put into your tour for the one Polish-speaking guest over the 12 English, 10 Spanish, and 8 Canadian guest here in the US.

Learning another language is beneficial to everyone.

More than likely, the Pole would catch more of the English version than your Polish but would probably appreciate you trying his language.
