Big East Lacrosse Teams

This all is definitely exciting for the Big East Conference. So I’m just trying to get everything straight here. There are 16 members of the conference (Cincinnati, Connecticut, DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, St. Johns, Seton Hall, South Florida, Syracuse, Villanova, and West Virginia).

Seven have Division 1 Varsity Programs, and are all now playing lacrosse within the Big East conference:
Georgetown
Notre Dame
Providence
Rutgers
St. Johns
Syracuse
Villanova

Nine have club level programs, and six of them play in the MCLA:
Connecticut (PCLL 1)
DePaul (GRLC 2)
Marquette (UMLL 1)
Pittsburgh (CCLA 1)
South Florida (SELC 1)
West Virginia (CCLA 1)

Two play in the NCLL
Cincinnati
Louisville

And one I can’t seem to find?
Seton Hall

I guess I may be new to this, but can anyone answer these questions for me:
1. What is the background with the NCLL, and why don’t more of those teams join the MCLA?
2. Does Seton Hall have a club team, and where do they play?

As a whole, the NCLL has seemed to be a little bit less organized than the MCLA with a lot less rules, but don't want to get that ball rolling again. As for their teams not playing MCLA, most of them are schools that have NCAA teams as well and the MCLA doesn't allow teams that have Varsity teams to play in the league. For these two (Cincy and Louisville) I have no idea why they haven't joined the MCLA, they might just like the NCLL.

The MCLA has a greater financial and compliance burden for teams to meet. That is the main reason those big est schools have not migrated to the MCLA.

The conference's 16 athletic directors unanimously approved the new league during recent meetings. The conference will apply for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

I know that in basketball, the NCAA requires a new league to wait five years before can apply for an automatic bid to the tournament. Guess lacrosse is different?

I had a chance to finally check out the site. One thing I wanted to note. The section titled, "Growth Rate vs. Other Sports" I think is a little decieving and hurting one of the strongest points you have about the growth of lacrosse at the varsity collegiate level. The lacrosse numbers are skeewed by the others........There's 4 people that bowl, but 4 more people start to bowl....now's there 100% growth in bowling. If the stats were placed next to the numbers of participants I think it becomes one of the strongest stats you can utilitze.

Good point. I'll see if I can find those numbers. I believe I got those statistics from the US Lacrosse participation survey so I am not sure if even they had actual participants.
