NBA Playoffs...
Are officially over before they even started in my mind. Warriors are out, I am pissed. All the other teams are no fun to watch and the East BLOWS. The Warriors would have been the 4th seed in that half. All you other guys can talk about who you think wins, but it will never matter in my eyes.

Phoenix is not fun to watch? Chris Paul (who is amazing) and the Hornets are not fun to watch? Denver scoring 234234234 points is not fun? Kobe or LeBron are not fun to watch? A big tall German guy named Dirk who does awkward gestures and facial expressions after big shots (unintentional comedy factor) is not fun to watch?
As a Mavs fan, I am more than happy to see the Warriors miss the playoffs.
Joking aside, I can't wait for the playoffs. This season has been a blast, so many good games, and I can only imagine the playoffs will be more of the same. If not the games, at least we have two months straight of Charles Barkley basically on every other night.

And the Jazz still haven't beaten the spurs.
I think the eastern teams should just allow Boston and Detroit a bye to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The west playoffs are going to be incredible this year.
Great Matchups all over the place
1. Lakers vs 8. Nuggets - Kobe is incredible and Gasol is good. Can Carmello and AI get hot enough to carry the Nuggets to 4 wins. It could Happen. Lakers in 5
2. Hornets vs 7. Mavericks - Great Hornets team, with a great regular season, but i think the experience that the Mavericks have in the playoffs over the last 8 years will prove the difference. The Hornets can play and the Mavericks are going to need a complete series from the guys not named Dirk. Mavericks in 7
3. Spurs v Phoenix - the best first round matchup i have ever seen.
Phoenix in 6
4. Houston v Utah - can Houston finally get out of the first round, and are the Jazz as good as the run they went on last year.

As a Wizards fan,I mostly follow the East, so I will toss out a little right coast coverage:
CLE vs WAS
I am used to the one-and-done in DC, so if they make it past the first round and LBJ, I will be impressed. If even one of James' supporting cast steps up, its gonna be a sweep. But, if Caron & Jamison stay healthy and Gilbert can stay away from a ton of bad shots, who knows... we might have a series
still take Cavs in 6
BOS vs ATL
Hawks show flashes, but nothing will be enough in this 1-8 match up. Get out your brooms
Celts in 4
DET vs PHI
Pistons are the ultimate "team" team... Their bench is so deep, they could sit chauncey, prince, rip, rasheed and dyce for this series and still take it... Philly might steal one at home, but I find it highly unlikely...
Pistons in 4
ORL vs TOR
This could be a very interesting series. Both teams are kinda flying under the radar in the subpar East... But, I like Turkoglu and Lewis to get hot shooting the 3 ball and Howard dominating in the post.
Magic in 6
I think whatever team makes it to the finals out of the East (most likely Boston) has a good chance to take it. The West has more strength top to bottom but the East has been very successful playing them this season... should be a fun month and a half

This is a pretty quiet thread right now....
Anyone think Philly has a chance to keep the Pistons on their heels? I think they could easily take it 6 or 7 but Detroit should still win.
Rumors of the Jazz' inability to win road games were greatly exaggerated.
Rumors of the Rockets as a legitimate threat to win the Western Conference were greatly exaggerated. Jazz in 4 easily.
It's a shame Houston is in the playoffs, without Yao they are only the 9th or 10th best team in the West, Portland and Golden State woulda been waaaay more deserving.
Looks like the Lakers will be without Bynum, this could be critical in a Utah/Lakers series, not to mention a Lakers/Spurs or Lakers/Suns series. Lakers over Enver Nuggets in 6. (No D, get it??? Thanks Barkley)
Chris Paul is lights out amazing. Can he take the Hornets anywhere past the first round though?? Even Dwayne Wade and Kobe had to have disappointing early round series in the playoff before they found playoff success. He's gonna pay his dues in the second round this year, but lookout NBA in 09. Hornets in 5, lose to Spurs/Suns badly in 4 or 5 though.
DeShawn Stevenson may be the most unnecessarily condescending player in NBA history, and he doesn't even have the game to back it up. However he did just drain two threes as I wrote this and the Wizards are smacking the Cavs in the District. Cavs win in 6 though.
Mike Bibby was talking smack about Celtic fans being bandwagon jumpers...he was 100% right: they ARE all bandwagon jumpers...It's just too bad he plays in the worst sports town in America: Atlanta. Phillips Arena might as well be an NAIA gym because no one shows up. Celtics in 5 (yeah Atlanta will win one, just one to surprise people then disappoint later).
The Suns may be the most disappointing team right now. They need to beat the Spurs to prove that Good can triumph over Evil, however the dark side flows too strong in Duncan, Ginobili and Parker. Spurs in 6.
Fabricio Oberto is officially the lamest player in the NBA. He looks like an Italian soccer player who got lost on a basketball court with his women's softball hairband and his incessant flopping.
Tell me I'm wrong on any of these points....cause I'm not

Boston vs ATL ties 2-2??? Didnt see that one coming...
In a year that everyone expected all the parody out of the west and for the first round to be a joke in the east, it has been much the opposite...
SA breezing thru, LAL sweeps Melo and Co., etc...
Maybe the East is just a bit better than previously thought

Im utterly sick of watching the spurs win by being the best at drawing fouls. When they aren't flopping they are somehow convincing the refs that they get fouled on every single shot they take. Basketball should just be more like lacrosse, it could use a little more physical play.

I really want to see Kevin Garnett get a ring. He is such a class player - works his rear off in practice, insists on the same from his team, labored for many years as a Timberwolf. All of those who decry the decline of professional athletics can hail the work of this unsung hero. He is class all the way. Hope you get it KG!

They might need to win a road game at some point. Yeah, I know, if they win every game at home they'll win the whole thing. But has a team ever won four straight 7-game series? I have to think that fatigue will become a factor with as old as some of those guys are.

Glad KG got his ring, though after watching him there at the end, he might now be insane...

I am so glad for Boston Celtics won their 17th NBA title in franchise history. It's good.
I never want to see LA Lakers to win NBA title.
I will see what's happening next year ??
