Some ridiculous scoring chances in this Italy/Romania game, but the goalies are making just as ridiculous saves. The PK save by Buffon was unreal, as much as I don't like the Italian squad, he is still one of the top 2 or 3 goal keepers in the world.

Kuyt scores at the 9-minute mark. 1-0 Nederlanders in the 1st half.

Ribery has really progressed well in the passed two years.

Am I all the only one that gets more jacked for the Euro and World Cups than I ever have for the NCAA basketball tournament?

Nope, this is one of the most fun sporting events to watch IMHO, I just plain don't like basketball...Here's to Tim Donaghy!

The Henry haters go wild as his open goal flick in the 53rd minute sails over the bar. Razors for everyone!

KNVB scores in the 58th minute. Van Persie does the deed this time!

That is for the Maginot Line!

BTW I really enjoyed the Romanian game specific uniforms.

I got to update that Henry gets France on the board in the 71st and Robben turns around scores for the Nederlanders in the 72nd. The replay had not
finished of Henry's goal.

KNVB leads 3-1 with 16 minutes left in the 2nd. Get your herring ready!

Adding insult to injury, Sneijder scores in the second minute of injury time. Throw in the towl, coqs!

Advance the Nederlands in your bracket! Winners of the Group of Death! Next up: Romania on Tuesday.

Two great games today. Should be a great weekend too. Just curious as to know when England plays their second game? What is that you say? They aren't in the tournament? But they are the greatest team, ever!!!!

Ethan, you may have used up your exclamation mark quota for the month.

Step away from the computer and think happy thoughts of Jebediah.

Go Oranje!!

What a game that I saw on ESPN.

It is going to be interesting to see how it plays out next Tuesday between the Dutch and the Romanians.

I think the dutch might pull a fast one over France/Italy and "rest" their starters. I don't think they are going to give the game to Romania, but I think they will make it as easy as they can for the Romanians to shock the world and advance ahead of France and Italy. At this point the Dutch have 6, Romania 2, France 1, and Italy 1. The Group of Death indeed.

I still cannot believe how merciless the Dutch are in their counter-attack. Its easy to see that they have a chance to really go far in this tourney as long as they play like a team and not like individuals(see World Cup '06/ Euro 2000 &'04 (did not qualify for WC '02).

Go Oranje.

P.S. I think we should get a pool started when the knock-out stage rolls around

When does the U.S. play?

I think this is the year Eric Wynalda and Tony Meola really put America on the map.

Nope....im paying close attention to these Euros. being a referee, ive even been watching them to see what type of decision they are making.

Thierry Henry is my most favorist player in the world. His touch, speed, and grace are amazing to watch. he's followed closely in second place by Cesc Fabregas, Kaka. You'd be surprised that i like Phillip Lahm and Claude Makelele and Daniel Luduena also.

Nobody else in the world has the touch to put that goal in other than Henry. anyone else completely misses it or hits it right at the keeper from that angle.

Just curious as to know when England plays their second game? What is that you say? They aren't in the tournament?

good stab at England. you wanna talk about Spain having a bunch of talent but no cohesion in their team.....they're following Englands lead. Lots of players from the English league in this game though....

methinks that the Dutch wont play all of their players next week. They're in and they'll use that game to rest a player that may be sitting on a yellow card or get some of that amazing bench into the game from the start (Robben, v. Persie, Vennegar of Hesselink, Affellay)

I still cannot believe how merciless the Dutch are in their counter-attack.
Gio v. Brockhorst is really going crazy up and down the left side.

P.S. I think we should get a pool started when the knock-out stage rolls around
...you mean none of you guys are playing in the ESPN EURO fantasy game AND the pick 'em game??? Is it just me???

When does the U.S. play?
Seriously, the US play on Saturday against Barbados.
peace.

No way, i love this stuff, basketball is no fun, just watch the NBA. Granted the guys in futbol try and get basketball type calls with their flops, the technique it takes to be a star in futbol is unreal. The Dutch are scary good and are honestly not a good sign for my Spain team. I still think Spain beats them 4-3 in a crazy game whenever they may meet. VIVA ESPANA!
