I have three words for you:

Andrew Allan Kelly

Rhea County HS
Class of 1988

He won a Sugar, a Cotton and game from behind to lead the Big Orange to a tie with Colorado (they were good way, way back in 1990. Honest!) in the Kick Off Classic.

As for west coast recruiting, that brought us the greatest QB in Tennessee history, Casey Claussen. Claussen not only won in Gainesville but beat the Gators at home as well. Manning never did that. Come to think of it, he never beat Florida in four attempts. But we move on.

The return to the Rose Bowl will mark the 15th anniversary of the Rose Bowl Massacre, where 5th year senior Jerry "The General" Colquitt when down on the 7th play of the game and was replaced by Todd Helton, Brandon Stewart and the aforementioned Manning made his appearance.

Where have you gone Sterling Henton?

Alabama did have two Hawai'i trips I believe, as for LSU they had some higher profile non-conference games, Oregon State coming to them comes to mind, but don't know if they've traveled that far. Vanderbilt did go to Michigan a year or two ago I think.

It's hard to get those SEC varmints out of their nests :D

This is an interesting website that shows teams future schedules for OOC games. Some teams have more info than others. The Vols are an example of having alot of stuff in place compared to some of the smaller teams...

http://www.nationalchamps.net/NCAA/future_schedules/

http://www.nationalchamps.net/NCAA/futu ... future.htm

2009 UCLA
2010 Oregon
2011 @ North Carolina
2012 North Carolina
2013 @ Oregon
2014 @ Oklahoma
2015 Oklahoma
2016 @ Nebraska
2017 Nebraska
2018 Ohio State
2019 @ Ohio State

That ain't too bad if I must say so...atleast 1 SEC team has some balls.

That ain't a bad schedule indeed, I am impressed! Now is that Fulmer's doing or the AD??

Not only are they getting OOC games against BCS conference schools, they are getting them against schools that are actually in contention every year for their respective conference titles (with the exception of North Carolina, but maybe they will get better by 2011 with Butch trying to turn things around).

The gauntlet has been laid SEC, and for that matter other BCS teams, top that schedule.

the home and home travel is impressive....schedule is not that tough though...1 decent OOC game per year...pretty much par for the (sec)course.

Does The Citadel rank as a tough OOC game?

Hey, they beat Arkansas back in 1992. Before there was Appalachian State, there was The Citadel.

I can't believe some folks are actually suggesting in this thread that the SEC is scheduling impressive out of conference games. Tennessee is the only one willing schedule aggressively AND on the road.... The SEC is easily the worst of the six BCS conferences on this issue.

Georgia going to Tempe this September for the ASU Game is the first time they have left the South in like 50 years. Seriously....

Live in the NOW, Hogan. By that rationale, UT played a good out of conference opponent in Tempe January '99.

This is a moot issue. If you have the toughest conference and the athletes there's nothing to gain by leaving the south.
