You have made 15 times that amount, about once a day on average, including summer, holidays, sick time, the playoffs. There are times where on one thread you make three posts in a row. On this thread there was one point where you made 6 out of 8. You need to get a job,a girlfriend, and a life.
got it, got it, and got it. Thanks bud!

wow, sorry gvlax, didn't realize my post would garner so much more disdain for you in this thread...
To my knowledge, the only leagues that don't give out 2nd place trophies are the pros.... and for that matter the millions (hundreds/thousands when concerning lax) for the runners up are consolation enough.... geez...

trophy
okay... enough
To be honest the MCLA did not handle the trophy issue at all. The local Dallas people do all of that. I can understand the need for some hardware to go home with and will certainly look into the budget at the close of the year for future presentations.
As a Sport Club person I can attest to the honor of a team getting there (lord knows you never know when you will get back). We proudly display trophies here at Tech dating back some time in many of our sports (and they rank from 1st and considerly lower). Alum love to come back and see it, admin and students like to see good medal, etc....
I think some of you were a bit harsh on GV and his thoughts. Yes, he may have used the wrong words or one word. But in his defense I feel it would be a minor investment to add two trophies for the 2nd place teams. No team likes to EVER grab the 2nd place trophy but years down the road it can mean a lot to the program, players and school.
through the pages of discussion on this- THANKS for some honest feedback.
can we move on

All of the college world series participants get some pretty nice "trophies" or commemorative items.
I guess you don't really need 2nd or 3rd place trophies from the conference tournaments, but I think all players should get some kind of a commemorative gift for making it to the tourney. However, only the first place team needs to get trophies.
spell check is dead...forgive any mistakes.

I realize this is a late post but I just got signed up.
A friend was on the New England Patriots team that got slaughter by the Bears in Superbowl whatever. He received a big old ring just for making it to the Superbowl. He said it was recognition for making it to the championship game. Winning it all is of course the greatest accomplishment but making it to that game is a feat worth celebrating and honoring.
My friend said as he looked back on the game, he wished they would have won, (and wished they hadnt got humilitated) but it was an honor to even be in the game. The ring was a great reminder of that.
So to me raising or finding a few extra bucks for a trophy for their school and some memento of their participation in THE game is worth it for the young men who play their guts out to make it to the big show.
I guess if the pro teams recgonize the importance of making it to the championship game, why cant we?
Just another perspective...

I think that ring you speak of is the AFC Championship ring, no? Not really the same thing as a runner-up ring.
Of course it's possible that I'm wrong and they do actually award runner-up rings in the NFL, but I find it unlikely.

Didn't we used to have a runner up plaque or something, but one year a team almost refused to accept it and because they made such a big stink about it after that point it was stopped?
