44. Washington

Brekan Kohlitz, M, Michigan
Whoa. This is a first. An MCLA guy taken. Never heard of this guy, but I know Michigan won the MCLA title this year and John Paul is one of that division’s best coaches. This kid’s got good size and can face off. So maybe the Bayhawks had this guy tucked away all draft and that’s why they passed on Brennan and Eck.

Got this from Inside Lacrosse blog coverage of the MLL draft. http://blogs.insidelacrosse.com/2008/05/28/mll-collegiate-draft-live-blog/

Several players have been picked up in the supplemental drafts, but never the collegiate draft. Good for Brekan. Washington does not have an absolute dominating guy there, so if he's good enough, he will get some run. Congrats.

COngrats! I do find it odd however that they would pick him up before Taylor Clagett of ND...arguably the second best FOGO in the nation behind Brennan of SU.

No SFU players have been taken in the MLL draft, as far as I know. A number have been drafted and/or played in the NLL for a number of years, and Andrew Martin played for Team Canada at the 2002 Worlds in Australia.

Was he planning on working in DC after graduation?

No matter what, that's a great achievement and will only help this league gain some well deserved recognition. Best of luck getting on the field.

true...OR he could show up, play terrible get run off the field and then the MCLA looks even worse...lets hope he plays well. He still has to try out and make the team. one of the owners of the washington team, basically the guy who puts up all the cash for the team, son plays at michigan so that is why he get noticed... great for this kid though either way, lets hope he represents the mcla well

On some other forums this is causing a ruckus!(Not too sure if i spelled that one right) People are saying he is going to get walked on by the likes of Rabil and Harrison blah blah... Funny thing is those D1 guys were walked on by Rabil.

I really hope he does well! Hate to do the Luke Skywalker effect on this guy but I just hope he really performs well and if not giving the MCLA a slightly better rep. then atleast Michigan.
