An anonymous poster on the INsidelax board, who suggests that he's on the EP team, announced that their starting SSDM (who they use to lock out good attackmen) apparently injured his ankle in the EV game.

IF - and I repeat - IF that is true, it's a big loss for EP because if he can play, he'll not be able to lock out Kip with a bad ankle - even if shot up with cortisone or its equivalent. And if he can't, then Kip is playing against a 2nd string SSDM. Who may never have tried to lock out a player like Kip.

Now, if EP has a hidden defense - one that they've not shown and doesn't involve locking out kip, that may alleviate some of this weakness, but then, assuming they've never tested such a hidden defense, there are risks that way also.

My GUESS is that if the SSDM cannot play, EP goes into a zone, and trusts its goalie to keep them in the game. THis presupposes that EP can win face-offs and dominate possession time - forcing Blake to play from behind and rush shots. IF that were to happen, Blake would be challenged. BUT, if Blake wins possession time, controls the face offs/ball on offense, takes shots it wants to take (again, presuming EP plays zone), Blake will be playing to its strength.

Should be a great game for Minnesota lacrosse.

After my stellar predictions in the semifinal game i am going to go ahead and give the final another bit of prognosticating praddle (PA reference).

-EP will not be able to stop dooley, but they will have a plan to control him to win
- EP's D needs to have the game of a lifetime, trying to shut down the other blake attack. Look for Ordway, Weise and Pettengil to have some big points.
- EP's hewitt is very good on the transition, so it is sometimes very hard to get a pole on him, they need b. dressen, j. seivold to have enough steam to shut him down if the poles cant get over.
- EP's attack need to take advantage of every opportunity and put lots of shots on blakes goalie, who is very streaky
- Whatever team wins the transition game will win the game
- 1 Class at Eden Prairie is about the size of all the whole Blake School
- Blake might have the coaching edge, Horn was in this same spot last year and pulled the W
- If this ankle damage rumor is true, they need to shut him down and not let him go vs Kip else it will be destruction for EP
- Blake is all about transition, they need a few quick goals to get everything rolling
- EP was outmatched athletically by Eastview, but Ep had smarter lax players, the jury is still out on Blake on that topic.

I say blake 12 ep 10.

Both teams got 3 minute stick penalties. EP first then Blake.

I was surprised that the 3rd place and championship games were played on a narrow field.

Both teams moved the ball pretty well. EP could have eased off of the penalties a little bit and played a little bit more sound 1-on-1 defense. Their goalie made some really nice outlet passes and the goals they scored seemed like they were from plays that were intentional and thought out. Blake capitalized on the transition oportunities and K.D. taking it to the cage. Their clear worked pretty well with sending a long pole up.

Is there a roster size limit for playoffs? Both benches seemed shorter than I expected.

I think the whole season including playoffs is limited to 24 spots.

I think only the playoffs had a limit of 24 (plus 3 coaches total). During the regular season I saw much bigger benches and no one complained.

NFHS rules allow the field to be 53.33 to 60 yards wide with no prior arrangement or variances (so the game can be played on a football field). Thus, the field was technically not narrow.

The attack area must be 35 x 40 yards, with the goal line 15 yards from the end line, no matter what overall size the field is (for both NCAA and NFHS).

NFL.

What is the point of this? In most states dont they increase the size of the roster? I think it would be beneficial to have a JV kid experience the state tournament, and i know having a larger roster will cause increased cost if you were coming from lets say Roseau, but 95% of the teams are from the cities.

Probably to control costs for individual awards and to ensure equal representation on the field.
