Since this forum is for all "general lacrosse activity" in Oregon and NW, thought I'd get a high school playoffs thread going.
Anybody got thoughts on the powers this season?? I think some "new" faces with legitimate shots at the title are Lake Oswego and Sunset. Neither team is new of course, but haven't been in the elite category in recent years. I think both have strong regular season tests against OES and Lakeridge and could pull off some good runs. I also think Jesuit and West Linn are playing really good ball and could turn some heads. Lincoln and Lakeridge and OES are good as always and the favorites.
Drop your thoughts on here, also about some solid players that you've seen. I saw Grant vs. Hood River a couple weeks ago and Ian Bohince's (from WOU) little brother is a baller for Hood River. Any other players in the league got siblings competing?
Maybe we can get a Washington thread going too, but I know nothing about WA high school lax...

No need to start a Washington thread. . .the State Championships in WA were over the weekend, and Issaquah upset Bainbridge Island in the championship game. They were the top-2 seeds going into the game, but B.I. was the prohibitive favorite and led for much of the game before IHS took the game in the 4th quarter. I think the final was 11-8.

First round:
My alma mater Southridge over Sheldon
Jesuit over Sisters
OES over West Linn
Lakeridge over Wilsonville
Lincoln over Churchill
Sunset over Riverdale
Hood River over Tigard
Lake Oswego over Glencoe
This is one of the most wide open years that I can remember in Oregon for ATLEAST the past 5 years. When I was at Southridge, there were only 2 teams with a realistic shot at State: Lakeridge at OES. Good to see other teams are stepping up.

Idaho is putting a game against the North Idaho champion Lake City and Boise area champion Centennial high schools this weekend at the UI Kibbie dome. I'm hoping this thing goes off strong and they are able to move it around every year and they continue to keeping building on it.

Thrilla, I am surprised you have us going that far. Much love. We pulled off a squeeker against them earlier this year so this would be quite the re-match

I just saw the craziest game tonight, Hood River @ Tigard. I was with a WU player who graduated from Tigard, so we were rooting them on and they were up 8-4 at half, then 10-5 with 5 mins to go in the fourth. I joked "a goal a minute for Hood River!" And can you believe it they got 5 in just 4 mins then won the faceoff and had a shot to win before time expired. Then the game went to TRIPLE OT!! Gosh OT games are gut-wrenching, and Hood River scored with about 1 minute left in the third OT period. I don't know if Tigard lost or if Hood River won, but it looked like Tigard was running away with it.
No other surprises from what I saw on the scoreboard. Huge matchup between Lincoln and Sunset on Thursday (Sunset wasn't reported yet as a winner over Riverdale tonight, but I just don't think my alma mater had it this season to beat Sunset).
Let's keep this thread going! Anybody else been at some good games??

ah the game I watched was the only one I got wrong. Lincoln looks good, solid middies and attack and big defense, jumped all over churchill in the second quarter, and I think Churchill only had one goal after the 1st quarter. Sunset/Lincoln is going to be sweet.

Final Four:
Lincoln vs. Hood River
Lakeridge vs. OES
The surprise team has to be Hood River, but they are hitting their stride now apparently. Lakeridge vs. OES is the rivalry for the ages, too bad it's in the semis.
Both games at West Linn High school this coming Weds the 28th at 6 and 8 PM. Check out some quality lacrosse!
