The 2013 tournament returns to Greenville, SC this May.

I think that a lot of the problems with the AA selections comes from problems with nominations at the conference level. [/quote]

Yeah, I totally agree with this. But from what I saw of the Wcll I think that we were correctly displayed. It did seem like the conferences that had the best teams had the most players represented. I mean if you think about it coming up with these must be a nightmare. Around 100 teams means 300 starters at every position (except for goalie). I mean if you look at it there are probably around 2000 players in just div 2. So the players that probably get the recognition are coming from schools that play out of conference games.

Bingo.

If you don't get seen, you don't get mentioned. I'm curious if there is one player on the list whose team did not play an OOC game, I doubt there are any. If you can have someone from 2 conferences or more singing your praises, then you are very hard to turn down.

I think that it also has to do though with your own conference awards. Looking at our team (biola) we had 2 ooc games this year but they were both from RMLC, we lost both and had a pretty poor showing, not to mention it was very early in the season. So we were easily forgotten. It is all tough to say, partially because this kind of reaction happens every year.

I know it was a long week, but I'm pretty sure we didn't have a third place game between St. Thomas and Dayton. So I don't know why you think STU would receive any hardware for not even making it to the championship game.

I wouldn't hold my breath on them moving up to MCLA-DI, but it might happen. It seems to me that they're quite content where they are.

Also, I believe the NCAA talk for Westminny started at this time last year as well. And, if I remember correctly, Westminster is a member of the NAIA, not NCAA, making the conversation irrelevant.

Congrats to both Westminster and GVSU on strong seasons and great tournament results.

I believe that there was some chatter on them moving up to the NCAA DI level in the future (its a very very long process) , but now the NCAA has put a moratorium on adding new school to D1, so that probably put a little wrinkle in their plans. Could of been just wild rumor though....

As far as all-americans go, congrats to everyone that made the teams. We all also know that there are many other deserving who probably should be up there but aren't. It is just the nature of the game.

A finals congrats to Michigan and Westminster for their tourney wins. Well played boys!

MCLA still needs to come a long way. Nothing to show for a great season besides a dvd we can buy and some pictures. This makes me so furious, we are trying to make this league so legit with professional webcast, snazzy logos but nothing for the actuall players that make up the MCLA. lets get our priorites straight already.

Wow, you got a great tournament in a great venue with the best officials in the country. Methinks you're barking up the wrong tree here.

Remember, the MCLA is here to serve all our teams not just you. We spend a great deal of our resources on the tournament you just participated in, yet you want more. I want a trophy! I want a present! I want more! Sounds like my 3 year old - grow up!

I know a lot of players that felt that being at that tournament was among their best lacrosse experiances ever. I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectation. The NCCL might be a suitable option for you.

If you have some contructive suggestions. Ask your confernce director to get them on the agenda for the summer meeting. Bellyaching here is not going to be productive and really reflect poorly on you and your team and the remarkable season you just had.

Trust me, all of the guys loved their experience at the tournament. Getting suited up in the same locker room as some of the greatest football players that have ever played was huge. Walking out into that field was amazing. But the fact that the league celebrates the number 1 team in both divisions with belt buckles and a trophy and nothing for all of the rest of the teams gives the feeling that the only team that matters is the one that won it all. It would be a good idea to give something for the other teams who made it just as far.

Im not looking for something this year, but i would love to see in the future years a little love from the league for the teams who leave it all on the field and want to have something to show for their efforts.

As a person who was on the "2nd place" winner/loser for back to back years it probably would have been nice to get a 2nd place belt buckle, or whatever the novelty item is, but in reality we lost the game. We had a great season and received accolades along the way for the things we WON, but i really cannot have issue with rewarding us when we lost. It is like getting a championship ring for second place, not really necessary unless you are at a 5th grade track meet and you dont want to hurt feelings.

really? someone really wants a 2nd place trophy?

back when there were 2nd place trophies, sometimes the runners-up had a hard time accepting them just after a tough championship loss.

and no team "got just as far" as the team that won the championship.

it may not mean much now, but the coolest memento for your team will be a copy of the 09 tourney souvenir program which will have this year's results in it.

Considering money doesn't grow on trees and (obviously) the league bent over backwards to have the event at such a nice venue...cash is not exactly overflowing...even in the NCAA.

I propse this question, which portion of the tourney is best suited then to reallocate (ie take away) the funds (a grand or two) to create 2nd place trophies for both A and B divisions?

This is collegiate athletics, not elementary school baseball. In elementary school everyone gets a trophy and a lolly pop. The MCLA has it right. The only team that should be celebrated is the champion.
