Agreed. Texas lacrosse is up and coming. I would argue it has less to do with athletes and more to do with youth leagues that have been in existence for some time now. Athletes in Texas have always been here. The earlier kids start playing, the better they will be. In the past, many of the lacrosse players in Texas have been multiple sport athletes that found a ceiling in Texas 5A athletic programs and decided to change sports midway through high school due to playing time, politics, or any number of other reasons teens decide to quit a sport. With the development of youth lacrosse, we are finding athletes that by the time they hit high school have played the game for 3,4,5 years or more. Youth programs are growing exponentially and coaches are being paid for their time. This has attracted higher quality coaching and a more refined game as a result. Less and less prevalent are dads on the sideline that have no clue of what is going on. Also, more kids are choosing lacrosse as a first sport and that is HUGE for the game in Texas.
As for the Aggies, they do have individual talent. Sure they may not have guys that put the team on their back and dodge through a whole defense, but that isn't their game. Do they have guys that can do that? Sure. Do they? No. Their attack players can and do draw slides and the other guys follow their slides and get into passing lanes. They are succesful because they do have both individual talent and a solid game plan. Everyone on that team seems to have a common identity and purpose on the field. Nobody plays selfish and their talent has the confidence and the skill to get everyone else around them involved.

AND east coast lacrosse is overrated...

I think the playing field is leveling quickly now that youth leagues have started springing up in the rest of the country. The one thing the east coast had before was kids picking up sticks as soon as they were old enough to walk. That is now happening all over the country so I agree the east coast dominence will come to a screeching halt in the next few years.

i would have to say one of the most rewarding victories for me, was beating the long island all stars when i played for team texas at champ camp. the best part about it was they were talking so much mess about how texas sucked at lacrosse, or as EC"Laxtitute" put it, had no individual talent. the difference between the WCLL/RMLL and LSA is that most of Texas's best highschool players go on to play NCAA ball as where California and Colorado's best players stay in their home state to play. i know that there are kids from colorado and cali that go play NCAA ball, but the majority of the better players stay home. i mean if you live in Santa Barbara, why would you go to east coast? the weather on the EC sucks and i know for a fact that the women in texas and cali are alot better haha (looks, manners, and accent wise).

Any coach can put together a lacrosse team and sign up for Champ Camp. Champ Camp is essentially a tournament where club teams can sign a paper, write a check, and play in a tournament. Congratulations on beating the Long Island All Stars, but I have to say, just because they call themselves "All Stars" does not mean they are.

I did not intend to start controversy on the forum, I assumed everyone had thick enough skin to talk some lax. My apologies. However, every time I check out the forum, i hear about how Texas lacrosse is just as good if not better than East Coast Lacrosse. St Mary's Annapolis came down to play Highland Park, who is said to be one of the best teams in Texas, and St. Mary's is not the best in Maryland. St. Mary's gave HP quite a lesson, it might have well been a shooting clinic. Im just saying that Texas Lacrosse is making strides, but to put them in the same boat as Maryland or New York is just ridiculous.

That same Highland Park Team went to Hotchkiss and handled them. They aren't in the same boat as MD or NY...yet. But watch out. Texas guys already had football and lacrosse isn't far away unless MD and NY figure out a way to expand their game.

Just this spring break i was at South Padre Island and wearing my SU lacrosse shorts, only to have a guy stop me and a team mate out of several hundred people on that part of the beach to inquire about our lacrosse shorts. He was a coach at the MS/HS level who was ALL about lacrosse. we had an in depth discussion about many different lax strategies and situations and is just the kind of guy we need coaching in the state. On top of that he was all about sending his kids out to play MCLA ball in texas which is great also. I learned to play lax in CT and everyone up there made fun of TX lacrosse but if we keep growing I dont think there is any way that the east coast will remain dominant forever, regardless of what EClax thinks. I know for a fact that in many cases lacrosse in TX or off the east coast in general is just as good as on the east coast, maybe not as good as the elite but just as good as the average team out east.

are you one of those guys that believes everything he sees in a movie? cause ive seen maryland football, its definitely not as good as their crabcakes or lacrosse for that matter.
