Well, they probably know it's cheating. The question is how people convince themselves that cheating is okay. How often have you heard people say, "If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying."

I see nothing at all wrong with the flip play for misdirection, I don't even think you can use the "well if I can't beat you with normal plays" argument. The flip play is just a great play using the tools of the field and your bodies, just like in basketball if you back to a guy and a quick guy runs in front you have to honor the quick running guy as well as who has the ball.

Where it gets fishy is when they turn both their backs to the field and actively look to be hiding the transfer, it took much longer than a normal flip and when the D man properly honored the driving man and dropped off that is just blatant that something is up.

I don't know who signed off on this hit, but there is a truckload of karma coming in there direction in the lacrosse world and out, that's dirty.

Cheating in sports is for losers, whether they're ahead on the scoreboard or not.

Well, they did lose the game, and now they are infamous nationwide for the play, thanks to the LaxPower and CollegeLax boards. Small comfort, but there it is.

As a former member of the Arapahoe coaching staff, I'm deeply saddened to see this. I know the players directly 'involved', both of which are far too talented (and quality kids, for what it's worth) for this kind of action.

Clearly cheating and almost certainly a crease violation on the play. However, I think we're past that.

Congrats to Arapahoe on a solid season... I hate to see it end on this note.

From what i've read about Michigan v Georgia yesterday, Michigan ran the flip play at the top of the box and georgia fell for it completely. Quick pass to the doorstep and goal while the entire defense (including the Goalie) was watching the other guy.

While the HS game was definitely cheating and i hate being on the other side of a 'trick' play, there have been some great moments in college sports with 'trick' plays. Boise state beating Oklahoma. Florida with Urban Meyer runs those kinds of plays all the time...

Cheating in the first place. I have no qualms with the 'investigation.' I think it's something that has to be done.

I just want to be sure to make the point that I am ENTIRELY in favor of, and love "trick plays" that are within the bounds of the rules. Trick plays such as the fake flip, Boise State, etc. are terrific - it's blatant cheating that I abhor. I just want to make sure that we clarify the difference betrween legal trickery and outright cheating.

The team is being sanctioned. You can watch the TV piece on it; the quote of the story is something to the effect of, "Sure, the play was illegal, but it was not cheating."
