Friday night update:

In a rematch of the 2007 championship game, the Milton girls defeated Northview 13-6.

Against #1 ranked Alpharetta, the Milton boys lead the entire game and withstood a rally in the 4th quarter to win 10-9. This was only Alpharetta's second loss of the season.

Both Milton teams now progress to Round 3.

Milton beating AHS is pretty shocking..... AHS first loss in the state of GA all season long.

McIntosh 5, St. Pius 4 final. Down by two, Pius apparently scored a goal with like 1 second left before the end of the game to make it close.

McIntosh hosts the Westminster/Northview winner in one semifinal. Milton hosts the Lassiter/Lovett winner in the other semifinal.

Westminster over Northview 12-7 or something like that. It was 5-5 at halftime then westminster ran away with it and the game looked like their playoff game last year.

Lovett goes to Milton in one Semifinal on Wednesday while Westminster travels down to Peachtree City to take on McIntosh.

Anyone thoughts on tomorrow's games Beta? Picks please...

Well...

Between Lovett and Milton it'll be interesting. Milton is VERY attack heavy with Kenary and Dunn. However they have some solid midfielders that can straight up play (Reed, Stolz). Lovett is weak defensively and in cage, but their middies/attack seem to always put up numbers when they need them. It's definitely a story of momentum. Lovett gets a little bit of it and rides it, however...they are guilty of "procrastinating" and letting the other team get up. Which is exactly Milton's strength. They seem to flourish early...and hold onto the lead. However if met with any adversity (cough Pope cough)...it's lights out and they mentally quit. Although Lovett beat Milton this year (by 1, when Milton was playing terrible ball), it's very hard to beat a team twice in one year. Just ask Lassiter (with Lovett), Pope (with McIntosh), Alpharetta (with Milton).

My head says Lovett, my heart says Milton.

McIntosh and Westminster is a matchup of McIntosh's offensive talent and Souza's ability to control his defense. If McIntosh shows up playing just a B-level of the game they possess...they'll win, IMHO. Too much firepower and intangibles (faceoff strength, transition). However...McIntosh's goalie is very suspect so we'll see what happens.

I expect the Milton/Lovett game to be a good one. Look for Reed at the midfield to have a big game (#28).

Spring practices, yes. But they are just glorified conditioning practices, which is all the GHSA will allow (padless).

Milton was never really in the game against Lovett. Their offense never got on track. They had a hard time holding on to, much less controlling the ball.

I think they left everything on the field in their win against Alpharetta and their tanks were empty last night.
