And you cant go making a bold statement that playing in the mud was the reason your goalie got injured. Knee injuries happen all the time. We only play at turf indoors here, so that takes the weather out of the game, and we've had a total of 4 knee blowouts, 3 of our own and one Ole miss D man. We played in the same conditions as you that day 30 mins away. Sometime we have to put our big boy pants on and play in the mud. I mean yeah we get a little bummed out when we always offer a nice facility for other teams to play in and then we get muck whenever we go away. It happens.

I think that we have to be careful to criticize what we may all take advantage off.....although this is all constructive criticism it does not change the fact that LU is the most central location for EVERY team in the conference and that it has above average facilities. Although I cannot speak from the perspective of having to go their as a visiting team I still feel confident in saying that the conditions cannot get much better. As far as the conference tournaments go i personally think that Lindenwood should not feel guilty about the fact that the conference tournaments are played on their own home field. As people have said, every team in this conference has been given the opportunnity to bid for the tournament. The tournament can do a lot of things for lacrosse-including raise awareness of the sport in general. A lot of teams have a lot to gain from holding a tournament like this and i look forward to possibly having some competitive decisions to make about it this fall.

This is ridiculous!! I've been to LU facilities for 4 yrs straight or however long they have hosted. They have always gone out of their way to cater to the teams. Now, if Illi wants to come w/ excuses as to why they choked when it counted that's fine. blame it on the music or the jock straps being too big. But don't try to imply that the host was trying to give themselves some kind of competitive advantage. All of this whining, griping, and/or complaining is going to cost each team even more money next year. The LU field is the best field I have ever played on and Hood and Corbin have always been great hosts. They are the only ones that take the responsibility on their shoulders, and yet everyone else wants to criticize. You guys are shameless.

ISU had asked the comissioner before the Fall meeting as to whether or not they could host the conference tourney and was told that they should bring it up at the meeting. We found out then that you had to put a bid in august to host. ISU has the same facilities that LU does and could most likely get the AD behind the idea again. Just food for thought. I am not with the program anymore but I know the new president would love to have other conference teams back him on that.

Sorry Nebraska, it was our Red/White scrim for football that day.

I guess we found our lindenwood guys in this post.

I think it would be a great idea to have playoffs at a neutral site next year (if you remember I actually started a post earlier this year on just this topic). LU has great facilities but I think it is extremely unfair to have one team (not the 1 seed this year) host. Maybe not extremely but yea I do think a neutral site would help. I know there are a lot of people in the conference who want this. I would be willing to help our/volunteer if needed. I am always willing to help when I'm on here talking so much.

And before we talk about raising conference dues to accomodate paying for an off site conf. tourny i would like to see where our dues go in the first place.

And one last thing. I have to say I am tired of higher ups giving a seemingly arrogant, condescending response to every issue that is brought up (Bitching?). Please, isn't that part of the job? Some people will not be pleased with what you've done? I mean that's true anywhere. It's nothing personal Corbin if someone brings up an issue. I know it has to be a huge task to co-ordinate something like the conf tourny, I mean that. And I am grateful we have a conf tourny and people who are willing to put their time into running it. I also think It's good to realize that the way its set up now can't work on any long term basis. I would even say if we do continue to host the tourny at one of the team's sites, we rotate it every year... (LU, IU, MoSt, KU) just for an example.

I agree with the Illini gentleman who asked in the first place.

Well said DRich, when did lax boys get too pretty to play on a muddy field? If the old school men who played a long time ago heard comments like that they'd probably just laugh and look back on the great times in the mud!

Yes, I do play for Lindenwood. I'll tell you my name and number as well if you would like because I'm not trying to hide anything.

Very true.

I think the point my team mate was trying to make is that the complaints by some Illinois players about the lack of a good playing environment are a little absurd considering their home field. It sucks that it can't just be, "Good game. We'll get you next time." It is taking away from the best lacrosse game i've ever been a part of. LU never made excuses after the loss to Illinois earlier in the season even though our goalie for most of the game had about a month of experience. We lost and we took it like men.

By the way, I absolutely love playing in the mud. I just think it takes something away from the skill of the game. Case and point: 37 penalties that game.

There is no question that Illinois' facilities aren't the greatest. The athletic department views the team basically as a hassle for them, and the team usually is given field preference after intramurals. It obviously makes it really difficult on the program when the whole focus of the athletic department is on how many Rose Bowl tickets they can potentially sell next year. I'm sure the Illini felt fortunate that they were even allowed on that patch of mud/grass that day so they wouldn't have to forfeit. So I feel that pointing out how terrible the field was one day in Champaign is aside from the fact that next fall an attempt should be made to have the GRLCs at a neutral site.

Not trying to flame, but had Illinois won...would you have brought any of this up?

I've brought it up to several different coaches the past few years so it is being brought up regardless, and by non-Illini

Yes but you generally jump on nearly every opportunity to complain about anything and everything. Harsh but that is the way I see it. A better strategy would be to volunteer to fix something and follow through with it. You will find that people will listen when you are a problem solver and not a person who points problems out and beats it until it is dead but does nothing about it.

I will nominate and support you for GRLC Championship Weekend Coordinator if you want to be a problem solver. Let me know.

I can't believe you guys are actually complaining about this. LU had a great field to play on and great facilities. Secondly, it was easy for all the GRLC teams to get there and wasn't to far. And Illinois, stop complaining about the home field advantage orwhat not. You lost get over it. oh and I'm not from LU. If you want to have the tourney at a neutral site next year thats fine but if they don't have better fields or facilities LU is just fine.

Here's something I would like to throw out there...

As many of you know by now, I have been involved in (or started) a lot of these discussions lately, not only that but I have had a very opinionated (euphemistic isnt it!) tone. Whether or not you agree with me has never really been the point, but after some responses I know a lot of people have expressed that not only do they disagree with me, but I am simply whining and coming up with conspiracy theories about the MCLA and GRLC.

After all that I have said, the president of the MCLA, the head coach from Michigan, has not only responded to ALL my emails in a very timely manner, but he has also been extremely helpful in answering any questions I had. (I emailed asking for MCLA bylaws and a copy of the budget and constitution, I got them all, I have yet to receive a reply to my last email sent to my league comissioner)

Now I can say that I am very impressed with the level of professionalism our MCLA president has. In the face of either real or perceived whining (on my part) the league's president has been nothing but professional, adult, and has never at one time been condescending or arrogant. I have full confidence in him doing his job.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for some people involved in decision making in the GRLC. It doesnt look too good when a college student can get under someone's skin, and provoke the kind of reaction I have gotten out of some of the Adults in this conference. Who's the example here? The Adults who have shot down questioning and VOICEING CONCERN (or whining I guess it is)? I would be more than happy to get involved in DOING SOMETHING, as I thought I have been clear in saying.

AJ you're not helping your case here

Is the GRLC really hiring a GRLC Championship Weekend Coordinator? If this is true I would love to be considered a candidate. I would not volunteer, but if it were a legitimate position for pay than I would like to send my resume and application to the hiring party. I know this sounds like a smart ass response or a joke, but I am very serious. Setting up a seperate tournament board to run tournaments and events for the GRLC year round would be a great idea that I would love to head.
