GRLC Championship Seeding

That wasn't all directed towards you John.

I have also been on the phone this morning with more people bitching about other conference issues.

Good idea for GRLC fundraising

Next Year

I still have 3 cases of t-shirts from the 06' championship in Chicago if anyone wants one. We sold less than 10. They would have sold better if we had someone to push them all weekend but with only the exec board on staff, working the scoring tables took priority. I don't think the foul weather helped much either. I think shirts would have done well this year but who wants to take the risk?

What about taking orders and sending them to the teams that ordered them? And the coach can hand them out to players who paid for them... seems like work I know but that way we arent stuck with too many shirts or have someone pushing shirts at the games

Unless we raise dues (which was rejected last year) then there is a very limited budget to use on the conference tournament.

John - the only person who should have gone to welcome you is the comissioner. LU was only the host site but the GRLC was the host of the tournament. I got thrown into running things because Coach Hood was sick.

Good idea.

However, (playing devils advocate) we have enough trouble getting teams to pay dues/ref fees/turning in things on time. Can't expect teams to pay for them either unless we require money up front.

I would be willing to do the leg work but need people to help.

Listen I posted not to "bitch" but to hopefully start a discussion for a neutral site for next year when the fall meetings roll around. I was not there this weekend but know in the past the EB has done a great job in organizing the entire weekend, which can't be easy. I know there would be nothing to complain about if the Illini won, but I thought someone should voice the concerns some of the players I spoke to, had about the weekend. I obviously didn't have all the details, but it did make me sour when I was following the season and saw the result last night especially knowing the history of close defeats for the Illini at LU. Congrats to Lindenwood, and good luck at nationals.

I completely agree. A neutral site would be best. But Lindenwood earned that victory. No one should try to take away from that.

If the tournament were to fall at LU again next season I'd suggest designating 1 locker room for the higher seed and 1 for the lower seed long before hand that way you don't have what ever "home" team in their regular settings. As far as a playlist goes, maybe the top seeded team could submit their playlist to whoever decides what can be played a week or so in advance for approval.
As far as volunteers go, I'm not sure who else, besides myself, asked if help was needed, however this discussion now shows clearly that volunteer help is needed. What steps has the GRLC taken to find assistance? To the best of my knowledge it has been little to none so maybe that can be changed and the league will seek help on its own.

Another thing I've seen at every other tournament I've been around are vendor booths, photographers, (t-shirt sales), etc. Maybe a little marketing effort could go a long way to making the tournament something bigger and better.

Find a local high school with turf field and lacrosse booster club that wants to make some money (program sales, ad sales, ticket sales, concessions sales, etc.) The event becomes a fund raiser for the conference and the h.s. booster club and the conference gets a field guarantee, better event for teams, and a ready-made group of volunteers.

Isnt there the Anheuser Busch complex fields in St Louis that could easliy accommodate both D1 and D2 games?

Or what about the high schools like Desmet, MICDS, or CBC, I think these are top high schools in that area to have field space. Having it in Missouri is nice because no team is traveling a super long distance.

AB Sports complex is super expensive so that's probably out as an option.

NO offense, but that will not ever happen....If the tournament was at LU again you think LU players should go to a different Locker room to take them out of their comfort zone??? And the other teams are lucky if they had ANY place/locker room at Lindenwood to get ready. Illinois home field was made out of mud and they was no place for them to even change( I thought it was unfair to even host a college lacrosse game on the thing they call "a field" this is also how their starting goalie was hurt it reminded me of a high school JV game). If its such a big deal don't come to Lindenwood anymore and then everybody can play on a big dirt mud field with no locker rooms at all. Then everybody can be happy! : )

CBC High School would probably work perfectly and something like that should definitely happen in the future. But is everyone seriously suggesting that the pre-game music was a contributing factor in the outcome of the game?! That just seems ridiculous to me. The only thing i could see playing a factor is the home crowd. But as long as the tourney is played in Missouri, LU will have more fans simply because it's close.

Now, we all agree there should be a neutral site and i would love to discuss possible options with everyone. But let's stop all this crap about music and locker rooms. When it comes down to it, the game is won or lost during the game. Stop making excuses.

How about U of Nebraska? We have great facilities, turf fields out the wazoo, and were adding another actually. We'd have to talk to our AD and see if we could get the girls soccer stadium which in my opinion is nicer than the lindenwood one. And plus, it would be considered a neutral place since we probably wont be making it deep if at all into the conference tourney.

Though it would be a little bit of a trek for some of the teams.
