My final seedings look something like this

1. Michigan - Beat Pittsburgh & Michigan State. Won CCLA
2. Chapman - Beat Arizona, SSU and ASU. Won WCLL
3. UMD - AQ for UMLL
4. BYU - Beat CU & CSU. Won RMLC
5. SFU - Beat Washington & Oregon. Won PNCLL
6. Arizona State - Beat UCSB & Chico St., Lost to Chapman.
7. Colorado State - Beat Utah, lost to BYU.
8. Sonoma State - Beat Santa Clara, lost to Chapman.
9. Georgia - no games
10. Virginia Tech - no games
11. Florida State - no games
12. UC Santa Barbara - lost to ASU
13. Boston College - Beat Northeastern and BU. Won PCLL.
14. Texas A&M - won LSA
15. Florida - no games
16. Lindenwood - won GRLC

Rationale behind my changes in rank...UCSB moves down below Va Tech and FSU due to early departure from WCLL tournament at the hands of #6 ASU. Head to head result with FSU was the thing that took it over the top for me. I wanted to move Georgia up, but CSU beat a top 20 team in Utah and SSU played Chapman very close. Chalk that up to a "good loss" I guess. Plus, if GA or SSU at 8/9 it wouldn't change the bracket anyway. Oregon's performance was not enough to have them leapfrog FL and get the last AL spot.

DG's brackets:

1 Michigan / 16 Lindenwood
8 SSU / 9 GA

4 BYU / 13 BC
5 SFU / 12 UCSB

6 ASU / 11 FSU
3 UMD / 14 A&M

2 Chapman / 15 Florida
7 CSU / 10 Va Tech

Those are some intriguing matchups. BYU/BC is a rematch of last year. The SELC would get a chance to show their stuff vs. SSU, CSU, ASU and Chapman.

JP is probably pulling his hair out, as the Cougars have been his tournament nemesis. At least it isn't the quarters this time...

Dinosaur's rankings are probably closer to what is going to take place, but I thought I'd throw in my $0.02.

I don't really see the current poll changing at all. Nothing unexpected happened this weekend. Maybe a possible flop between Michigan and Chapman.

That loss was already factored into the last poll. They have not played any games since. And if you are talking about ASU getting crushed by Chapman, that wasn't the same ASU team that UCSB played. They sure look a lot different without Tyler Westfall in the lineup. If he is back for Nationals, I would expect to see a lot of teams shut him out of their offense.

A fair point. I'd have to reconsider, perhaps.

Westfall's injury doesn't really come in to play as far as rankings go. It is team wins and losses that count at this stage.

#10 will most likely get CSU, #11 will get ASU and #12 will get SFU. For the Gauchos, it won't be an easy first round game no matter what.

Chapman should have more #1 votes, but they will not jump over Michigan at this stage.

If that ends up being the case, I almost hope UCSB gets the #12 seed. SFU=overrated.

SFU and UCSB put up similar losses against BYU (albeit early in the season) and have since handled their competition, with the exception of UCSB's debacle in Florida.

I wasn't at the SFU-SSU game, but it sounded like an young SFU team struggled to maintain the stranglehold they had on Sonoma in the first half. UCSB on the other hand maintained their dominance throughout.

I'd rather not see an SFU-UCSB first round match-up. I'm a west coast bias kinda guy, so I don't really put a lot of stock in any of the teams after 9 exept for UCSB. The Gauchos always come to play in the NC and I think UCSB is the last team any of the top 8 want to face.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I have been watching WCLL/PNCLL lacrosse for over 30 years now and disagree completely with yours here, RB.

SFU is legit, despite their lack of games against the Top 10 teams. Anybody who takes the Clansmen lightly in Dallas, or believes they will not be a serious contender for the national title might get surprised. Whoever draws them in round #1 will certainly have their work cut out for them. The truly scary part is Fraser has not a single Senior on its roster and will be even stronger in '09.

Have to agree, I think the pollsters had it nailed last week:

Mich vs. Oregon

Chap vs. Florida (does florida really make the tourney?)

M-D vs. BC

BYU vs. A& M

SF vs FSU

ASU vs. V Tech

CSU vs. UCSB

Noma vs. Georgia
