Matt,
There you go again, making some sense. Stop that, Tommy's getting jealous!

I'm sure the non-TX teams have worked just as hard, if not harder to get their programs up and running and therefore they should be rewarded by being included in everything that comes with being part of the USLIA....including being recognized as part of a conference. Therefore, the TX teams should recognize the work put in by these teams and be willing to alter the name to include them. If you say that the name isn't important then it shouldn't be a big deal if it changes to include the new teams joining the conference.
Didn't your mother ever teach you to share!

beckner11, its not that the LSA doesn't recognize the time and effort non-Texas LSA teams put into their respective programs, but rather, I think the main argument is that the non-Texas teams do not represent an outstanding presence in the LSA. No disrespect to these teams whatsoever, but most of these teams are fairly new or are developing organizations.
Regardless, I can assume that a name change is inevitable, however, I think the main argument for many teams is that it is simply not the right time for such an endeavor.
With that being said, how about the South-Central Area Regional Establishment Division (SCARED) ... just kidding but lately the LSA just hasn't been "making the grade" against OOC opponents. As much as I've fought for the LSA in other threads, the truth is both sadly and painfully coming to me. Maybe the We Have Something to Prove League would be more fitting (WHSPL)...

How touching, I feel like someone finally understands me, and further more took the time to actually read one of my post and not just skim. You miss a lot of the good stuff when you skim. Good job Benji for being one of the proud few that is actually picking up what I'm putting down.

not to post where I'm not welcome, but what makes this a bad time? Would the better time be the days preceding and at the league meeting?

man i wish the old board was still alive. i proposed a pretty good name back in the day and it even had around 14 initials in it. then we could hav ethe longest name in the whole league. wouldnt that be an awesome claim to fame, since we cant beat anyone anymore.
peace.

It wouldn't be a good time, for one its mid-season. Second, the league just admitted several new teams, and it appears that several teams may or may not be competing in the LSA next year. Right now LSA-A has only 1 team from Oklahoma and two from Louisiana (with the remaining 9 being from Texas). LSA-B has two again from Louisiana and the other nine are from Texas. So out of 23 teams, 1 is from Oklahoma, 4 from Louisiana, and 18 from Texas. The LSA might want to wait until more non-texas teams join to change the name.

The WCLL has only 3 non-California teams, 2 from AZ and 1 from NV, and they're not called the Golden State Alliance.

I dont think the number of non-Texas teams should dictate the changing of the name. When Enron went bankrupt, the Astros didn't play on Enron Field anymore. The LSA is now in essence bankrupt, and more and more teams from other states are joining this league.
The League meeting would be a good time to discuss it for a finalized name change but if we go into a meeting without any names, ideas or concepts this topic would be just like the message board topic, filled with arguments and other such nonsense.
Times are a changing and names need to be changed too.
