Inside Lacrosse Forums Hacked?

Postby AO on Sun Apr 27, 2008 6:27 am

Just tried to view the forums at Inside Lacrosse and got redirected to goons.net. Did a Google search on goons.net and looks like there's a lot of PO'd forum admins out there who've been hacked by these idiots. What a nuisance.

Sonny -you've probably heard of these guys before(?).

Yes, one and the same. They were hacked earlier this week for about 24 hours.

I probably try to check out the IL forums 3-4 times a week, mainly for the Minnesota high school chatter, and I think that almost every, if not every, time that I have tried to go there this week it has been hacked and re-directed me to g00ns.net. More of a nuisance than anything, I suppose, but tonight, for example, I tried to get on there around 6:00 (Central time) and couldn't, so I went to practice, came back, and just tried again and it is still hacked (its 11:45 here now). Almost 6 hours of down time for them...can't be fun for the admins of the forums.

One thing it did make me wonder, though, Sonny...does www.collegelax.us have any sort of security against hacking (if there is even such a thing available)? As much as it irritates me to not have access to the IL forums, if CollegeLAX went down, I would have 6+ hours of my day to fill! :D

The CollegeLAX message board (in it's current form - phpBB) has never gone down. It's a very stable platform.

InsideLacrosse uses a different platform for their message board that is inviting to hackers and has more potential security problems (as they are experiencing now).

And CollegeLAX runs on a UNIX server which more stable/secure then other platforms (like Windows servers). Not sure what IL uses. As long as we are up and connected, CollegeLAX is open and ready for business!

Gross - the solution is real simple. Invite your all MN lacrosse friends to CollegeLAX! :)
