Chapman - 13
Arizona - 4
Chapman's Defense and Goalies played amazing in this game, shutting down the Arizona offense. Chapman also had 10 different players score on offense. A good showing in 100 degree heat on the field!
WCLL Playoffs 2008
Talked with one of the UCSB parents about the game. Two first line middies didn't make the trip because they were sick. I was wondering why anyone would miss a playoff game. Turns out that one was hospitalized with some sickness and the other had missed classes and practice all week with the same flu. UCSB's faceoff man was also injured which resulted in UCSB winning one or two faceoffs and playing defense for most of the game. And the LSM was playing with a broken finger. I think that is all the excuses I have for you all. Hopefully this doesn't hurt UCSB in the polls too much and the team heals up in time for Nationals. They have lost in the WCLL quarters before and still made it to the semi-finals in Dallas.

haha, Don't forget to add that the coach's horoscope said "bad things will happen in your immediate future," and one of their starting attackman woke up on the wrong side of the bed. And also, a starting defensemans' dog died two weeks ago so he was feeling extra sad.
p.s. I'm semi-kidding

He was yelling "oh why God!! Why did you have to take Fluffy from me!!" during the game. I felt sorry for him. My best wishes to him and his family

ASU UCSB game was great. Sure looked like SB had their whole team there to me. ASU dominated all but about 10 minutes minutes of the game. Solid contributions from the Westfault Brothers who have been stellar the majority of the season. The sundevils constantly get jacked up by thier defensive midfield units lead by Jim Kennedy, who had more penalty minutes than playing time on Saturday. UCSB major issue is clearly their transition play in riding/clearing. ASU totally capitalized on these opportunities. ASU goalie looked sharp in net although UCSB didn't have much of shooting angles do to the fact that UCSB's offense was totallly shut down by ASU defense. In the end, ASU has turned the corner again this year and will clearly be a huge player in the end of year tourney. On a final note, ASU's fans continued their rowdy contribution despite having bleacher seats in their new stadium rather than on field presence.

Thats for sure. I'm pretty sure that former player Ricky Hurley even took his shirt of at one point to show the gauchos everything that he knows about gargoyles...

I spoke to one of the UCSB players about the game and he said they just didn't show up... certainly sounds like it. ASU is definitely a team you need to be on all cylinders for, good luck to them the rest of the way.

I swear, maybe ASU showed up and UCSB showed up, and ASU just happens to be the better team? Perhaps even a much better team? The excuses that are being thrown around are pathetic.

Well after they played to 1 goal last time around, the margin of victory was a little surprising... There are no real excuses, just what people have said... everyone always has a reason why they lost and rarely in playoff games will it be "they were just way better than us". At the end of the day the excuses mean nothing it's the scoreboard that doesn't lie.

No argument there... maybe to make a comparison: UCSB whooped Sonoma a few weeks ago, but i doubt that many people would argue that UCSB is the better team of the two at this point. Therefore the one game was not completely indicative of the quality of the team.

If Chapman and ASU each win their semifinal game should be an epic battle for the championship. Barring any injuries, great mojo for the winner heading to Dallas. Hard to tell how it will effect the team that loses. Same thing seems to happen in the RMLC. Difference is there appears to be two new kids on the block in the WCLL. When is the last time neither Sonoma State or UCSB played in the league championship game? It 's a hard pill to swallow and who knows may make both teams dangerous in the Dallas. Not that it matters but I wish ASU and Arizona would switch to the RMLC to make the conference larger.

I wanna say 1998 was the last time that neither UCSB nor Sonoma was in the WCLL Final.
