We dominated the game all the way until the 6 min mark. Whitman overcame a five goal deficit to send it in to OT where they eventually took the game. Although we were a better team, we were out-coached again today. Hats off to Whitman, good luck next round.

Schmitz is a great coach, no doubt, but to say that you were the "better team" when you lost reeks of poor sportsmanship. I can understand if you and your teammates are disappointed and felt that you deserved to win, but at least have some class when you are on a public forum. Graciousness in the eye of defeat is a virtue, after all.

I'll forgive you because you obviously started writing before you finished reading the whole comment, because afterwards I stated hat's off to Whitman, good luck next round. Actually you may be right that does sound like a comment "reeking of poor sportsmanship". Next time I guess I'll have to hire you as my editor, hows about 50 cents a comment???

Once again hat's off to Whitman for fighting till the end.

Enjoy the off-season, buddy.

Sounds like Montana traveled with a small bench and was able to beat Montana State 16-15.

Thanks Ryan, it was one of the Cougs best games this year as a team. Beautiful day for some lax on the Palouse. OSU is a classy team and it was a really fun game.

I'm hoping the team gers more support in the coming years from incoming freshmen and parents/alumni.

We will be looking for a more permanent head coach this summer as we look to build on some bright spots from this year.

Two for two with my DII predictions. Spot on with the analysis, too. Forget Missoula boys, I'm headed to Vegas!

#1 WOU v. #5 Whitman
#2 UPS v. #3 WWU

Having witnessed the first WWU vs. UPS game, which was a fantastic contest. . .I'm very much looking forward to the rematch.

Congrats to WWU and Whitman on their playoff wins and trips to Missoula. These are going to be two fantastic semifinal games, and likely the best final four the D2 has seen in a very long time.

Simon Fraser 20
Gonzaga 7

Fifteen different Clansmen recorded points, and Ripley got some time in goal (maybe the 4th quarter?), recording 5 saves and allowing goals.

I don't think Hodge had bad intentions in this at all. Whitman earned the victory. However, if you looked at the scoring summary you would notice that we had a pretty good lead the entire way until about 6 minutes left which means we were outplaying you. Hats off to Whitman though for finishing us off. It looks like this has turned into a pretty intense rivalry though. We played three times this year with us coming away with a 1 goal victory in the fall and regular season and them coming away with a 1 goal winit in the playoffs. Hopefully both teams can remain competitive and continue it.

CWU will be back. One graduating senior (me) and I'm not very good so they're not losing much. They'll be my pick to win it all next year if every one else comes back.

Good luck to Whitman next weekend against Western Oregon. Try to keep it within 20 goals, or maybe even 10 this time around. No pun intended. They're just a quality team.

You know, Hodgee, for someone who makes immature comments, you're really bald. I was afraid you might get a nasty sunburn when you kept taking your helmet off yesterday.

Hodges comments were right on. How can you explain that whitman was the better team when we were up by 3-5 goals throughout the whole game up until the end. (not to mention the fact we already beat them at home earlier in the season). Due to some questionable moves by us, we lost the game. I'm proud of the way we played for about 55 minutes of that game. We overcame a ridiculous amount of penalties (some very questionable) in the first half and stayed in front for the majority of the game. And to you Whitman alumi: get a life, stop arguing with players that are currently playing. You have no idea what went on in our huddles during that game so to say that we weren't outcoached is wrong. If CWU's offense didnt go into a stall with 8 minutes left in the games, and kept putting up points, the game would have never gotten within 3 goals. Hats off to Whitmans CURRENT players for playing all 60 minutes of that game and never giving up. That game is how real playoff games are played. I'm proud of the way our team finished the season. After picked to finshed at the bottom of D-2 this year, we ended up tied for third. Thanks to the league for a great season and to everyone that makes all of this possible. Good luck to all of the teams in Montana this weekend! I can garuntee you'll be seeing CWU there next year.

I know we are the last in our division, so I am not going to say we would beat you guys, but if I remember correctly doesn't Central have to move up to division 1 next year or are they small enough? If they do have to move up, I really don't see them beating teams like SFU, OU, UW, and Montana. Just my 2 cents from down here at the bottom.

from what i have heard, it is very unlikely that the leagues will be re-aligned next year, so if that stays true, we will still be in D-2. But if we did move up, then yea there is no way that we would beat teams like oregon and SF

CWU doesn't have to move up next year. I think the only team in D 2 that might move up is WWU. However, with some help from the power's to be that have the knowledge I believe that the MCLA had no intentions of changing from its current format of D1 football or whatever it is to choose alignment and they didn't want the separate leagues to change from that so WWU only has to move up if they wanted too. This might not be exactly correct but if my memory serves me correctly I believe it is.
