Walton/Pope winner from tonight's game gets McIntosh on the road in first round. Other very good 1st round games:
Westminster/Roswell (Roswell won in 3 OT's earlier this year)
HIES/Milton
Lassiter/Decatur (DHS may have a shot.)

Westminster 18, Roswell 9
Lassiter 13, Decatur 8
Northview 13, Harrison 6 (might be off a goal or two)

All of the other games went pretty much as expected .... but this outcome was definitely the biggest shock of the evening ..... (and I thought that the score turned out to be 12-5, McIntosh ...)
I had Pope in the Finals ....

Northview winning by 7 at Harrison is just as big a shock. Harrison looked very good as recently as last week when then won at Roswell. Their defense & goalie were very stout.
Northview was the only road team to win a 1st round game.

Every possible bad habit for Pope came out last night. At least in the 2nd half. I missed the entire first half and halftime due to some well-timed and awesome road construction on 285 that closed all but one lane and extended my trip from Dunwoody to PT City to 3 f'n hours.
Offensively we (Pope) forced the ball WAY too much. Shooting the ball from (seriously) 25 yards away. Dodging into 3 people head down. Hanging our sticks, etc.
Defensively it was a nightmare. All of the SWEET takeaway checks and over the head checks that I fought them from doing all season came out and they got toasted. Loose balls on the crease and our guys go for the ball and not the man. Pope was up 3-1...but gave it away with stupid penalties, terrible outside shots, and I think five 1-on-nones that were shot right into the goalie and/or his stick.
Northview/Harrison shocked me. Milton/HIES was a huge surprise with Milton winning...who couldn't seem to buy a win this year.

These are confirmed now. Start times TBA. I think some of these games maybe Friday evening, but don't quote me on that.

Alpharetta at Milton is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start on Friday night (immediately following the Milton girls round 2 playoff game against Northview - which is a rematch of the 2007 championship game)

That should be an excellent crowd at Milton with the playoff doubleheader.
Lassiter is at Lovett for a 6:30pm start on Saturday evening. I believe the Northview at Westminster start is 4pm at Westminster's main stadium.
Pius at McIntosh is like a 2 or 2:30pm start down in Peachtree City.

Results from Milton
Friday night update:
In a rematch of the 2007 championship game, the Milton girls defeated Northview 13-6.
Against #1 ranked Alpharetta, the Milton boys lead the entire game and withstood a rally in the 4th quarter to win 10-9. This was only Alpharetta's second loss of the season.
Both Milton teams now progress to Round 3.

And the Milton ladies will play the Lassiter ladies in one semi-final next Tuesday at Milton ...
The Lassiter Lady Trojans beat the Walton Lady Raiders yesterday 11-9 to advance to the semi-final game with Milton. This is the deepest that the Lassiter women's program has ever been in the playoffs ....
This next game with Milton will be a true test - the Milton ladies have proven for the last 4 seasons that they ARE the best women's high school program in the state ....
Kent, I'll be seeing you next Tuesday at Milton ... (save me a seat, will ya' ?)
