I would think it hard for anyone to count SJU out as of now. They have D-II losses to the current 2 and 3 teams in the nation. If they do not make it to the UMLL championship, I would waive the at-large bid goodbye. But I would say they deserve an at large bid pending a close loss to UST in the championship.

As for Fort, I would find it hard to move them past a 6 spot even with a win over UNC due to lack of their strength of schedule. I would expect voters to move them up only if they beat a higher seeded team (which they do not play any as of now). Or, if a higher seeded team falls.

An emory win over dayton would put them in the go ahead over SJU for the number 5 spot int he next poll.

The (assumed) UST-SJU game should be one to watch as it is always a strong rivalry and both teams always come out gunning.

How many at large bids are there this year? 4? 5?

Are any conferences out there worthy of 2 AL's?

If Fort loses to UNC they should fall below top 10 for sure. If they win I guess they could stay at 7 but they still have not beat a top 10 team. So moving up would be a stretch. What a crazy road to Nationals.

I think there is only 3 AL bids. 12 team tourny with 9 conference champs going.

I doubt it, but the SELC has had 4 teams stacked in the top 15 for most of the season and 3 in the top 10. (at one point I think there were 3 in the top 8 ). So again, I doubt it, but you never know.

Should be 4 AL bids. 12 team tourney but only 8 AQ's due to the CCLA not having an AQ this year.

look at the CCLA. both dayton and GVSU (two very talented teams) are ineligible for an AQ due to Calvin's no show last year. There's no reason in my mind both those teams wont earn AL bids. So if we are working with 4 AL's, thats two comin out of the CCLA. Emory has a good shot at picking one up as well right? Same with St Johns. And the RMLC has a couple of good teams that might fall to Westminster in their conference tourney.

anyway you cut it, there going to be a few very good teams not making the tourney this year.

Not trying to pick a fight, but what are the odds D2 gets a 16 team tourney in the future to mirror that of D1. I think this season is indicative of the necessity of a larger field; well at least I would like to think that

I agree that if UNC beats Fort it will probably knock them out of the top ten. Also Emory v Dayton will be interesting. It should be interesting to see the matchups as we get into the conference tournament. We saw what it did for Elon. Fort has a 1st round matchup with #11 Montana State and a potential rematch with Westminster.

I doubt D2 will move to a 16 team tourney too soon... this is only the fourth D2 tourney ever, it has been expanded once already, and then there's all the teams that mess things up for everybody else...

No teams pulling out or leaving early this year will bode well, though, in my opinion. Hopefully that will happen and continue in to future tournaments.

Agreed. With the current 12 team format, there simply aren't enough slots to make this the most competitive tournament possible. With 8 AQ's this year, and 9 most years, there are a handful of great teams who could compete with anyone in the country who are always going to get left out.

I understand that there are other factors that go into having the smaller tournament (and it doesn't help when teams decide to not attend nationals after receiving a bid). But a 16 team tournament would go a long ways towards making Dallas as competitive as possible.

Why wouldn't you rest some of your starters for the game? Anyone have any insight as to why any team would put up 35 points?? I can't beleive it.

Have to be careful about doing things like this. I am not sure who RHIT is, but a few years ago we at UTA played a brand new team to the LSA (Centenary) and beat them 35-3 coming off of a 20-3 L against Baylor. We wanted to send a message, but we got out of hand. Centenary did not play a game the rest of the season, and has not been back in the league. I still feel bad about that game that happened 4 years ago. I understand wanting to assert yourself and show how good you are, but there comes a point where the score shows that, and that is at about +20.

Does the PCLL get an AQ? If so, why didn't they have one last year?
