LSA CHAMPIONSHIP

Division I consolation game?

Postby RevDamon on Wed Apr 23, 2008 2:49 pm

Seems like I recall that last year the semi-final losers played each other in a consolation game. Is that game planned for this year? I don't see any mention of it on the LSA site.

That game would be pointless...injuries waiting to happen.

While I tend to agree, they do it with all the teams during the MCLA tournament week. If you're going to use cost and travel as an argument to do it, the same can apply to LSA championships.

What does everyone think are the chances of some sort of T.O. copy-cat celebrating going on in Texas Stadium? I'm half expecting to see someone take their ball to the star, or dump popcorn on their face at some point this weekend. Anyone else concerned that this might happen or do people not really care?

consolation game

While discussion about whether or not the consolation game SHOULD be played might be worth while, that was not my intent for asking the question. I am simply interested in knowing if the game WILL be played, and if so, when.

i dont think you could take the ball if you wanted to, the refs usually pick the ball up immediately after the goal. plus i dont think there is a T.O. celebration that wouldnt get flagged in our league, so i dont really think there would be much concern of it happening, unless maybe in the D2 games.

such celebrations could be the high point of the tournament. I know the aggies know how to twirl their sticks after scores! maybe one of them will be brave enough to put on a good show. for the fans....

This game is made for injuries. Take for example, Trevor Hussey from UNT, who suffered an injury to his shoulder that sidelined him for all of this season playing in the consolation game... An injury that no doubt hurt UNT this season. Phillip Johnson and Trevor could create some serious match-up issues if they were on the field together (and most likely will next season).

No LSA DII Championship game last year = reason there was a DI consolation game. Therefore, there will NOT be one played this year.
