UST over GVSU even though they beat them head to head and GVSU is undefeated having played a real tough schedule? I think they should be in consideration for #1, but definitely about UST

I dont know how you can say that GVSU has played a tough schedule. They have played teams with a combined record of 31W's and 45L's. GVSU's only top 25 division 2 game was against St. Thomas and won in OT which is huge and I dont deny that they are good but they have no other top competition games to account for.
St. Thomas on the other hand has beat the #3, 4, 15, and 18 with their only loss against the #6 this year and have played teams with a combined record of 57W's and 39L's. I think that is much more deserving of a better ranking.

It's true GVSU hasnt played top caliber teams so they tried to make up with it with 5 OOC games most of which were ranked or were close to being in the top 25 and also scheduling 19 games. Although a few games have been canceled we are looking to have 17 games this year. Right now we are done with 14. Our record only shows the MCLA teams we have played this year. We tried to schedule other top 25 teams but to be honest there wasnt many in our geographical area. We could only afford one trip and we chose to play the toughest competition we could get (St. Thomas). Next year GVSU is trying to increase their travel budget and will definitely be looking for teams to host us during spring break for games.

GVSU has played UST, Calvin, Augustana, UWEC, and could play Dayton earlier this season. All of which were ranked, or in the discussion of being ranked earlier in the season. Because a few of them have fallen of the map is no fault of GVSU. They beat a good UST team on the road, and are undefeated this season. They have done nothing to show they aren't deserving of the #1 rank in the country, or at least the #2. How you can have an undefeated team ranked behind a team they beat is beyond me.
After seeing them play earlier this year, there is no doubt in my mind I would vote them #1 if I had one.

Not trying to get votes but the win vs st. thomas was the 4th game in two days. Just thought i would throw that in there.

Earlier this year Chapman beat BYU and was still ranked below them. One game does not constitute a great season. It is a seaon of quality wins and beating the teams that are of quality calibur. Although, Chapman has gone on to do very well and BYU had some troubles.

In my mind, you cannot count Calvin because they are not allowed to be in the polls or play in nationals. Augustana is 1-6 for the year. UWEC is a team with a winning record.
I believe that they are best suited behind St. Thomas right now in the third spot with each teams record overall against quality teams. GVSU 1-0 and St. Thomas 4-1 in the top 25.

not trying to start a discussion but calvin going to nationals or not does not stop a heated rivalry. They were undefeated and so were we. Last year it went to OT and both teams were looking for a win. They didnt play any lighter just because they cant go to the big dance but played calvin lacrosse.
GVSU will be happy just being in the top 5 if that happens, trust me.

I put GVSU ahead because they beat St. Thomas and are undeafeated. If it weren't for GVSU then Eau claire would probably be top 25, and GVSU played both those teams in the same weekend plus two others. With St. Thomas having the quality wins that they do then I see GVSU as a highly competetive team, rather than viewing both as lower competitive teams. If your argument is that St. Thomas is that good and they deserve their ranking than it makes sense to me that GVSU is just as good, and in fact better since they won, and that both should be ranked top 5. However if St. Thomas is that worthy of their rank then GVSU should be as deserving and should be ahead. My only other argument for GVSU is that, despite what may seem to be a weaker schedule, they are absolutely demolishing the rest of their competition. Anyways, that's just my opinion. Either way both teams are destined for Dallas and hopefullythey can both meet again to prove who is better on the National stage.

21-25
These are probably the hardest spots to pick in this poll, but since no one else has tried it, I'll give it a shot.
21-Santa Cruz. Put a whooping on Pepperdine and has a bunch of young talent.
22-Coastal Carolina. A good showing since the last poll.
23-Southwestern. Doesn't look like they've done anything to drop them completely out of the top 25.
24-Biola. Beat Pepperdine and last year's WCLL champ Irvine handedly.
25-Tennessee Wesleyan. Destroyed a team and played solid against Tennessee.
This is based off of the first top 20 poll that was posted by the way.

If this comes true then all 6 tournament teams in the SELC-D2 will be in the top 25. Now while I love my conference and think we're having a major up year, that may be a little much. But heck, I'm hoping it happens, as it'll just help the people who win through the tournament.

The GVSU vs. UST argument is interesting. GVSU has been rolling teams, but let's not kid ourselves, UWEC and Augustana just aren't that strong. UWEC had potential this year, but I've seen them and it doesn't look like they're clicking. I personally don't think they should be receiving votes. When GVSU set up their schedule they probably thought those teams would be stronger, so I won't fault them for that.
Make no mistake, GVSU did beat UST. It was an away game for UST too and they had played 2 games earlier that weekend. Seems like some people are forgetting that. The thing most people are forgetting is that UST's response was to take on UNC and Dayton and win in convincing fashion. To me that speaks volumes more then a loss by the narrowest of margins to a team that is now #4. At the end of the day you can flip flop them however much you want to.
UST still takes on SJU next week. If they pull that off they will have beaten #3, #5 #15 and #17. Tell me a team with a better body of work and who is more deserving of the #2 spot (I doubt anyone is going to knock the Griffins out of #1 in the regualr season poll).

I never said that Augustana or UW-EC were good this year, but that should not be held against GVSU, considering they were both ranked, or received many votes in the preseason. Its not for lack of trying that GVSU hasn't played many ranked teams this year. Also, UST did lose to GVSU, and GVSU is undefeated.
The Lakers have won every game they played this season, you cannot ask more than that of any team. I know that UST has the stronger schedule, but I still think that GVSU should get the nod ahead of them considering they beat them h2h.
