UMLL WEEK 11 - 4/9 - 4/17 NEW DIVSION 2 TIMES/LOC.Coming

Postby Rob Graff on Fri Apr 11, 2008 12:23 pm

GUYS:

Sam doesn't have power due to blizzard in Duluth.

And the UMLL EB and Official Assigner is attempting to resolve numerous weather related field issues with the Division 2 games. SO watch this space for those games.

If UMD weather reschedules the UofM game, we'll post that here as well.

D1:
APRIL 12:
4pm Mankato v. Marquette. Hopkins High School Turf Field
7pm UMD v. Minnesota Gophers Hopkins High School Turf Field (note - if weather/roads don't improve, this game may be weather rescheduled - check here again after 9am Saturday)
2pm Kansas St at Iowa St

Sunday
9am - Marquette v. UMD Hopkins High School Turf Field
12 Noon - Mankato v. Minnesota Gophers Hopkins High School Turf Field

Division 2 Changes

Postby Chris Larson on Fri Apr 11, 2008 1:40 pm

Due to the change in locations necessitated by Carlton's/St John’s/Bethel's administrative prohibition of field use, certain changes have been made to Division 2 games in the schedule below.

These Division 2 games will be moved to Fargo ND:
12-Apr NDSU v UWEC at NDSU 1pm
12-Apr Carleton v North Dakota at NDSU 4pm

13-Apr North Dakota v Bethel at NDSU 9am
13-Apr NDSU v St. John's at NDSU 12pm
I would appreciate it if NDSU would provide hotel information to the traveling teams

These games will remain as currently scheduled:
12-Apr SJU v UST at UST 4pm
13-Apr UWEC v UST at UST 7pm

If the UST field cannot be cleared by Saturday 10am, we will reschedule SJU v UST for Wed 16-April. This will require cancellation or rescheduling of the UST/UMN game. Although highly unlikely, if the UST field cannot be cleared by noon on Sunday, the UWEC v UST game will need to be rescheduled.

This leaves these two games (Augsburg v Bethel & Augsburg v Carleton) to be:
a.) rescheduled for midweek or, if the teams can agree and secure sites, doubleheaders next weekend, or;
b.) if Augsburg or Bethel can secure a field for one game on Saturday, we will not have to reschedule the Augsburg v Bethel game. Likewise, if Carleton or Augsburg can secure a field for one game on Sunday, the Augsburg v Carleton game will not need to be rescheduled. That decision will need to be finalized by 8pm tonight so that our CAA has adequate time to staff those games.

The UMLL has facilitated the location change due to the closure of fields in the regularly scheduled locations. By moving the game locations, the UMLL does not warrant that travel will be, or will not be, advisable at any particular time to any particular location. Safety related travel decisions are made by the teams involved.

I want to take a minute to thank Mike Ferrin of Bethel, Tim Singer of Carleton, Adam Benny of St Johns, Cameron Pedersen of NDSU, Pete Mossbrugger of UST, and Peter Kramer of Minnesota for all their work investigating, locating and securing fields in tough circumstances. Also, none of this stuff would get done without great cooperation between Rob Graff and Brad Scibak.

The UMD, Marquette, Mankato and U of M games to be played at Hopkins Highschool's Turf Field-

These game times for Saturday and Sunday will remain the same

(please correct me if I am wrong)
2400 Lindbergh Drive
Minnetonka,MN
55305

From North Hwy 169 South to Cedar Lake Road- Head West on Cedar Lake Road and then take a Right on Lindbegh Drive. The field I believe is on the Right Hand Side.

The high school assigner respectfully suggests the following dates as the ones least likely to cause widespread chaos:

April 20 (4 HS games)
April 18 (14 HS games)
April 16 (21 HS games)
April 21 (21 HS games)
April 23 (22 HS games)

As you might imagine, the high school assigner is really hoping that 4/20 and 4/18 are heavily utilized for make-up games!

To preclude any confusion - Sam's reference to game times is to the game times I noted in my first post in this thread.

Field at Hopkins is confirmed by Minnesota.

Today's games to go as scheduled despite the cancellation of earlier high school games.

Snow removal

Postby Dylan Dickey on Mon Apr 14, 2008 9:25 am

I'd also like to thank the U for shoveling the field off. When we arrived the field was cleared. I assumed the JV game was played but later found out it was canceled and that the U cleared the snow.

Thanks, guys!!!!

I personally echo Dylan's sentiments.

UMD as a team noted same in its MCLA summary.

Agreed. Thank you to Minnesota. We had to shovel our field last year, so we know how much work it can be.

Thanks again for a great weekend in Minnesota.
