9-12 could go a number of different ways. But what is UCSB doing at 8?

I was surprised at that too. Not to say they're not a top 16 team, but they lost 3 of their last 4 games and moved up two spots.

perhaps it is time to consider a weekly poll.....the nature of the MCLA is to cram multiple games into a week/weekend to maximize the lax for your buck....makes it impossible on voters....

would be easier to evaluate teams that are all over the road like most of the top 3-20 are this year...(not to say the voters don't evaluate on a weekly basis on their own)

I'll take it! But there aren't any easy games left for UCSB. Chapman, LMU, and WCLL playoffs considering they can win at least one of the last two games.

In my mind, the real head scratchers are UCSB, UO, and Noma sitting pretty at 8, 9, and 10.

Noma has one quality win over CSU and then a so-so win over Poly but then get thumped by UCSB who was fresh off losses to FSU and UF. How does Noma stay above the SELC teams? What about UO??? They still have only the one-goal win over a suspect CU squad but that old poll inertia keeps them in the top 10. I don't get it.

As I alluded to before, I can't begin to put the SELC teams into any kind of order as it is apparent that no one wants to step up and win when it counts (Hey Noles, feel free to assert some control on Friday night) but I don't understand the justification for having any SELC team ranked below a team they beat or a team that has beaten exactly no one.

All in all not a bad poll ... voters did a pretty good job.

I still think there's an argument for Texas A&M to be ranked higher, BUT, the other teams ranked close to them are all pretty solid as well. Not sure if there's much ground to put TAMU ahead of any of those teams.

The SELC picture is a bit confusing, with Central Florida beating VaTech, VaTech edging Florida State, Florida State losing to Georgia, Georgia losing to VaTech and Florida, and Florida edging Central Florida ... it's a logic nightmare.

With three pretty recent losses, the UCSB vote is also somewhat questionable.

At this point, if the tourney was tomorrow and the top rated team in each conference gets the AQ, the last spot getting in is #14. The group of teams from #7 through #14 could've been in just about any order - (throw the names into a hat and see what comes up) - and you would have a hard time saying it was right or wrong. It's shaping up that conference tourneys are going to make a huge impact on the final poll.

Excellent point CATLAX.

(For next year) Does anyone think weekly polls would be better?

I think that is a better question for the pollsters. Obviously us critics would love to have something else to look at while not doing work, but it might be asking a lot of pollsters.

3 Conferences (CCLA, PCLL, and UMLL) only have one team in that top 14 as well. An upset in any or all of those causes a few more teams to be bumped out. So I would say, as of right now, only top 11 are "somewhat" safe.
