It might be beneficial to have UWM in the upper division. That would put two D1 teams in the Milwaukee area.

It is really up to the league to decide. I think a major realignment is in order, but it needs further discussion.

Given the size of the school, UW-M should be a D1 School from UMLL perspective as CJL has indicated.

So if UW-M joins the umll, which seems likely as they are very organized and seem to have sustainable numbers to compete

how do we see new realiagnment happening

UMLL - 1

UMD
UM
Marquette
St. Cloud
UWM
MSU-Mankato
UW-Stevens Point
Iowa St

UMLL-2
St Johns
St Thomas
St Olaf
Bethel
Carelton
NDSU
MSU-Moorhead
UND
Augsburg
UW Eau Claire

leaving this with 10 teams in division 2 and 8 in division 1

or do we do an even split and go 9 and 9?

Sounds to me like this will be a good discussion to have at the Spring/Fall meetings.

Could we go to a more regional setup. I am thinking this...

North 1
UMD
St. Cloud
UM
Iowa State

South 1
kato
marquette
UWM
Point

North 2
UND
Moorhead
NDSU
St. Johns
Bethel

South 2
Eau Claire
St. Thomas
Augsburg
Carelton
Olaf

-Play each team 2, then some games with the other divisions (SJU vs UST, Olaf vs Carelton etc) Top two seeds in each division advance to playoffs...

-The only real benefit to this would be ease of scheduling and ease of travel cost. Not sure folks would like to see each team twice in the short season that we do have (i personally wouldn't).

-Kato and Iowa State are kinda hung out to dry because where they are regionally.

-I dont like my idea at all, and think the old system will be fine, it benefits point and Marquette to have UWM in the league because they can drive a shorter distance to have a game.

-Would need a few more teams to have a regional based system work and make sense.

-Every time I see Brewers highlights I see the giant UWM ad out in right field, maybe if you speak nicely you can slap a giant yellow Lacrosse underneath that, would be a great recruiting tool.................

(not sure why you put olaf in d2, but i rolled with it)

I've been considering divisional play.

We did it in the late 90's when we didn't have D1/2, and we were getting large.

I do not see a need for divisional play in the D1 ranks, even adding UWM.

I can see a possibility of adding D2 divisional play. Remember, Drake is making (or was) a presentation at the spring meeting as well. And possibly one or two other schools (Gustavis to name one).

I have heard that a few GLLL teams are tired of that league. Some of them are working hard to be ready to make a presentation to the UMLL.

This presents, for a lack of a better term, awesome proposition for the UMLL

With admission of say 2-3 teams give or take?

pushes the UMLL to 20 teams, finally some GLLL teams
makeing the switch to the UMLL only widens our talent and
name.

parity in the leauge is getting fairly even its a great time to
see such and involvement and committment to lacrosse in
the midwest

Because you wrote a lot Pinball, I did not quote you, but I think that divisional play is something that ought to be talked about.

It might be a good option for D1 and D2 or it might not be, but something to be considered in a discussion.

Also, why the talk of moving Olaf to D2? They continue to be competitive at the D1 level. Are they just thinking long term it is the better fit? Anyone from Olaf care to comment?

i just happened to put them there for the sake of argument

in no way does that affect they way i look at their school,

i agree with you panch, i believe that olaf is fine in division 1

they remain competitive and do just fine.

however, my only bases to put them in two was number wise,

maybe someone else would like to be in two, etc. etc..

it was a simply numbers match, hopefully this will lead to a stronger conference as a whole
