Its not an in-division game (Auburn is in the central now) so it does not affect the playoff standing. So im assuming they are just going to leave it as-is unfortunately.

I now feel comfortable asking this question; What is the official tie-breaker in the event of a 3-way tie?

Josh -

http://www.selc.org/index.php?section=information

Should three or more teams tie - and all have played each other
1. Head to head competition.
2. Goals allowed to the other two teams.
3. If one of the teams is eliminated, go to the two team qualifying rules for the remaining two teams.
4. Average goals allowed to common SELC divisional opponents (Note: forfeited games will not be counted in determining GA average).
1. Average goals allowed over all SELC divisional games. (Note: forfeited games will not be counted in determining GA average).
2. coin toss

Should three or more teams tie – have not all played each other

1. Record vs. common SELC divisional opponents
2. Average goals allowed to sectional opponents. (Note: forfeited games will not be counted in determining GA average)
3. Average goals allowed over all common SELC divisional games. (Note: forfeited games will not be counted in determining GA average)
4. Coin toss

I interpreted it the same way, however, if the game is very high scoring such as 20-18 Charlotte, then I think Davidson would go to ATL.

Don't quote me on this, but

Charlotte 17
App State 6

That means that Charlotte makes it to ATL, if I am not mistaken. Anyone know what overall seeds are? I would think that Elon or Emory are #1/#2, SCAD #3, TWC #4, Coastal #5 and Charlotte #6. Is that about right?

seeding

Postby WallyLaxFan on Sat Apr 12, 2008 4:40 pm

So, if Charlotte, TWC, and Coastal are the 4-6, then the tiebreakers are used to determine who is seeded where. Since none of the 3 played head to head, then the first tiebreaker would be average goals allowed against common opponents. The only common SELC opponent for the three teams is Furman, and I don't think the scheduled UNCC and TWC games against Furman were ever played. So, then the next tiebreak would be average goals allowed against divisional opponents. Against the North, UNCC has given up an average of 7.8 goals per game. Against the central, assuming the Furman game doesn't count, TWC has allowed an average of 10 goals a game. Against the south, coastal has allowed an average of 9.5 goals a game. So if this was the proper tiebreak, then UNCC would be 4th, Coastal 5th, and TWC 6th. Of course, I don't know about the Furman games and this is all speculation.

App State would like to thank unc-c for making the trip, they looked like the team they had last year. look for them to make some noise in atl.

I try to keep up with things regarding the team, but i haven't heard anything bout the Furman game being made up for Charlotte, so I don't think thats gonna happen

TWC has to play Furman still.

UGA over GT 19-10 @ Lassiter HS.

Alumni game beforehand was good people. Lot of laughs and hilarious commentary.

The final was 17-6, Charlotte over App.

Some Notes:
-Went to a running clock with the score 15-2 at the end of the third.
-Chris Manning had a goal taken away due to an illegal pocket early in the game, served his one minute while he fixed it, got back on the field and had a hat trick by the end of the quarter.
-Colin Wauchope had 8 goals in the 3 quarters he played.
-Ridolpho, the defender from App, played a pretty stellar game and even scored a goal on us.
-#5 from App went down with a neck stinger at the end of the 3rd quarter. It was pretty scary for a couple minutes.
-The goalie from App state was actually on top of his game. He made a number of amazing saves but he just saw an overwhelming number of shots.

Can't wait to see the playoff seeding get official...

Thanks for looking ... for those of you attending the SELC Championships next weekend - look for me !! I'll be there !!

Edit: You know, I don't know why, but sometimes the dreaded "red X" shows up where a photo should be showing ... If you're experiencing this and NOT seeing a photo where one should be, try hitting the F5 key. This will refresh the page and then the photo(s) will spring to life !! (I hope!) ...
