DII National Tournament
From another forum, there is speculation that the WCLL lost their AQ because of the UCI incident last year...any truth to this?

I just skimmed over the conversation that took place immediately following Irvine's early departure last year: http://forums.collegelax.us/viewtopic.php?t=8401
Didn't see anything about any punishment that will be carried out and I haven't found anything anywhere else.
Someone should be able to clarify/correct me.

I was under the impression that both conferences have no AQ this season, not just the teams... I was reminded the last three years (being a student coach) that if our team failed to represent our conference at Nationals that the conference would lose its bid the following year.
Teams in those conferences can still make it to Nationals, they just have to be ranked high enough... at least that's how I understood it.

So if UCI wins the WCLL playoffs, they aren't eligable for nationals...does the 2nd place team get the AQ?

Only the conference champion can take an AQ. If the conference champion cannot attend, the AQ turns into an at large bid, it does NOT extend to the 2nd place team.
Conferences are free to crown their champion in any way they see fit (regular season champs, post season tourney, lottery) as long as the determination is made on or before May 4th.
Could prove to be interesting for the WCLL if Irvine is successful in their tournament

Biola has all but wrapped up the WCLL south, so it is very unlikely that irvine will even make the playoffs. The winner of the Div. 2 WCLL championship would still get the AQ for the national tournament.
