Both CU and CSU have played Colorado College this year. BYU plays them on Friday night.

Michigan played Kenyon earlier this season as well.

Can someone please post the link to the highlights for the Ithaca Chapman game? I have been discussing the game with my friends back East and they can't believe that Ithaca and Chapman played so close.

Most guys (at least the ones on Laxpower) "refuse" to believe that this was a real game, or that Ithaca even tried.

If they saw Chapman play, I think they would be very surprised at the quality of their players.

I happened to see both the Chapman Ithaca game and reports on the Ithaca v Cortland game the following week. Same team, same players played, and scored. Guess no one believes Ithaca's coach when he said to both teams, that Chapman was basically the same team that they expected to meet the next week in Cortland! Listen to the pre game chatter from Ithaca in the video!

Funny...I posted the scoring from that game on Laxpower last night. Amazingly enough, it isn't there anymore.

I see it there now...maybe you shamed them into putting it back? Nah, they wouldn't lower themselves to watching our posts (or maybe they do watch, but just wouldn't want it known that they do?)

I just truly don't understand comments like

"California has over 180 High School programs listed on Laxpower, to think that they would not produce good local talent is ridiculous. To make this a real argument, go legit and we can have some real games out West and grow the sport. ... It's a scrimmage folks...let it go..."

and

"Clearly they have a fair amount of individual talent ... but let's face it, when the chips are down top club teams are just that - club teams."

I guess "going legit" (becoming NCAA?) is simple and straightforward, and any team who doesn't immediately do so must not be serious or worth wasting time on, regardless of the large and reputable institutions they may be associated with. I of course do understand the mentality and self-justification at a certain level, but the need to be both apparently supportive and at the same time condescending and "damning with faint praise" is remarkable. I guess DII and DIII are still considered "legit" to DI folks, but we're not to them? I've seen games at all levels (I suspect many of us have), including MCLA vs NCAA, and they all seem pretty much similar in form to me (very arguably, some MCLA games and teams seem much more "legit" than some NCAA ones I've seen, particularly in terms of equipment, venues, fans attending, etc.). To me, a scrimmage is usually where there are no refs, no scoreboard, no full uniforms, both coaches break in for teaching, etc. Why not just call our meetings "a non-league game", or "a game with an MCLA team", can that be so horrible to sully their reputation by association? For the most part I don't think we claim to be wonderful or superior, just would like to be fairly and appropriately considered "legit" and more than "just that - club teams" -- when the chips are down.

I almost posted something like this comment there (I have occasionally done such things in the past) but I figured it would be useless at best, and at worst do more harm than good. Oh well...

I echo many of your sentiments, unfortunately leaving a comment like those as you say would really make no difference. I’ve found that many of those who comment on lax power are really not the ones that are the movers and shakers of DI, DII or DIII, or for that matter the opinions of those who make a difference in the lacrosse world. Many of the great players (DI and DIII All Americans, as well as USA Team Members) that I have interacted with either at camps, summer league or otherwise, and coaches (DI and DIII level) know of what the MCLA is doing, know the type of caliber of player they can produce, and understand that what is good for the sport.
Another drawback is that no DI team will want to play a MCLA team in a true “game” because they are limited in the number of games they are allowed to play in season, and need all the help they can get to compete against each other. They are not many DI teams (53 if I am not mistaken), and if they want to compete and get the good recruits they must show that they play the best they can of the DI level. We will not garner respect from the criticizers of Lax power until an MCLA program does NCAA, and even then it will be easily dismissed as a fluke. But as you say oh well, let them put others down so they can feel better about themselves, and we will someday show through merit, not words what degree of excellence we can maintain on the playing field.

Thanks for the comments (commiseration?). Rest assured, I have been around enough to "understand" at some level and know the "constraints" the teams can be under, and yes, I am aware that the most vocal / antagonistic are usually not the coaches & players (although there are certainly some notable exceptions in that regard, as I'm sure some of you are aware, but I won't go into that right now). It does hurt a bit nonetheless, for the great guys and teams in the MCLA (who are there for whatever reason, certainly not just "not able to cut it" in a "real" program), who deserve better than to be so summarily dismissed from any consideration of possible worth solely due to the lack of the "correct" four initials.
