A quick recap of the games from Maryland.....
FSU led the entire way of both the BC and Va Tech games and lost the lead the last 2 minutes of each.
The VA Tech game was very fast paced, up and down the field action. FSU dominated from the faceoff X the entire game until the end of the fourth quarter where they lost a few crucial ones. They kept a 2 goal lead for the majority of the game but were unable to put the Hoakies away. Leading 13-11 with 3 minutes left, FSU went into a settled offense where they killed about a minute before turning the ball over. VA Tech went down the field and scored, won the ensuing faceoff and scored again. FSU was able to prevent a goal in the last 20 seconds to force overtime where Va Tech won the faceoff and scored.
The FSU attack seemed to have some problems with the big, physical Va Tech defenders. FSU's defender Sommerville was tremendous and had 2 or 3 assists. Both teams long poles handled the ball very well.
This was a typical FSU Va Tech game and I hope they get a chance to rematch.
Today's game vs. BC was more controlled with incredible goaltending by both teams. FSU's Siegel was not playing which hurt them on the faceoff. FSU built an 8-5 lead with about 3 minutes remaining and looked to be in control until BC scored a goal with about 2:30 left. At that point, it seemed as if the FSU players became afraid that the events of yesterday would reoccur. And from that point on BC dominated, winning every faceoff and scoring with relative ease.
I have to admit, I haven't seen an MCLA game since the 2006 season, and the rise in the level of play was evident by all 3 of these teams. Passing was crisper, ground balls were picked up faster, and the D-poles were great all around.
Hats off to BC & Va Tech for hanging in the whole games. Although very disappointing for FSU players and fans now, I think these close losses help this very very young team grow.

just a quick note on Evans comments...the BC game was actually pretty much neck and neck the whole way. It was tied going into the third, and bc only trailed by 1 going into the fourth. The score was 8-5 until about 4 mins left, then bc began the comeback ...they scored the go ahead goal with :30 left. Great game.

It indeed was close the entire way. My post did not mean to come across as if it wasnt. Would be a fantastic rematch at nationals should it happen.

That's too bad. I saw the first quarter and it looked like it would be shaping up to be a good game.
This was the first time I've seen Bama play this year and I do think the talent is there for them to be a good team in a few years as they are young as others have stated.
Good luck with the rest of the season!
