There was an item in Lacrosse Magazine about how both teams keep stats and they don't always agree. In particular, the number of faceoffs won in DI lacrosse, as reported by the teams, is usually higher than the number of faceoffs that took place during the season, IIRC.
In any case, as KnoxVegas pointed out by quoting the scorekeeping definitions, not every shot that does not result in a goal is a save. If A1 shoots and defenseman B1 blocks the shot, that is a shot but not a save (since it didn't reach the GK). Furthermore, if the ball misses the goal completely, that can be a shot but, again, not a save.
One thing that's quite interesting is that the rules definition of a shot and the scorekeeping definition of a shot do not agree. For example, A1 kicks a loose ball intentionally at the goal. The ball misses the goal and goes directly out of bounds, with A2 closest when the ball goes OOB. Who gets the ball?
31 Saves??????

I once took off my own skate and tried to stab another player. It's a record.
I'm not going to get into the numbers on this one, but people have been playing loose with the 'save' stat for years. In my mind it's the most inacurately reported/listed stat out there, except of course that one time when my girlfriend asked me how many other woman I've "been" with.

I don't really "get" this, and yet it's really funny.

So you gave her a nonzero answer?

A2-its a shot. I don't like to admit this but I have scored my share goals this way.

It is a shot for the purposes of recordkeeping (as defined in the appendix). But the definition of a shot as listed in Rule 4-5 is "Shot—A ball thrown at the goal with the intent of scoring, as judged by
an official." That would tend to indicate that a kicked ball is not a shot, since the ball is not thrown. And since the officials have to go with what the rules actually say, not the record keeping section says, I think the ball goes to team B.

I know LaxRef and I have been included in this conversation before, but for the record, I disagree. I know what the book "says", but I'm not convinced that is the intent.LaxRef wrote:But the definition of a shot as listed in Rule 4-5 is "Shot—A ball thrown at the goal with the intent of scoring, as judged by

As long as (for whatever reason) we all believe Mizzou's information as the undoubted truth, it should be then shown that Mizzou's game before the Mizzou/TTU game was with thier "B" team. I wonder why that would show up in the game report though....Missouri led 4-1 after one quarter. Tied at half. Missouri went down 10-6 and scored 3 goals in the last 4 minutes to nearly tie the game. Both goalies played fantastic, carrying their teams. This was the second of two back to back games for Mizzou at noon and 2 PM. (addendum) Interesting that Tech reported 31 saves when we shot 34 times and scored on 9 of those shots........
True statement, it was Missouri's "B" team that played in the first game. Their back to back comment is not completely accurate.
