I challenge you to find a post by me where I have hated on ASU this season. I have only defended the Gauchos or predicted them to win over ASU, but never said anything bad about them. They do however, take heckling very poorly. Especially their goalie.

The goalie who couldn't handle the heckling was "Twinkie" from SB a few years back.

Not going to disagree

He was worth going to games just to watch at the tournament as an outsider cause he would get so mad, funny times.

Does anyone want to run through the hypotheticals? What does Oregon need to do to jump Florida?
How safe is florida's spot?
To me it looks like Florida is in a pretty good position to make the national tournament

As long as there are no upsets in conference tourneys. Oregon has to beat SFU and that right there would be an upset and throw UF out. But also look at BC who just lost to BU, that is why I am a little disappointed that the UMLL isn't playing their tournament. Not to say UMD wouldn't roll, but stranger stuff has happened.

weather...

oregon is pretty much a win over SFU and they are in probably around the 14 spot (with an AQ to boot)

for UF, it comes down to BC or ATM stumbling in their conf tourneys, which could either bounce them out or jump them up as high as 13 depending on the votes....

I love your posts RB. Just didn't think you had it in your to support somebody besides SB. But it is still the WCLL...so I get your point. Looking forward to this weekend in San Diego. Should be some great games...

When it comes down to it, I will support every WCLL team. I just don't like teams that come onto the boards pleading for support with nothing to back it up with. I think that support is gained when you excel at Nationals. Oregon did that for me last year (then went poo poo all over the place this year). ASU and UMD might be on their way this year. I always show respect for BYU, CSU, and Michigan (sometimes Sonoma). I am a pretty critical lacrosse fan. Must be something I inherited from Blue Velvet.

I might be missing something, but I don't think Florida has to worry about upsets in the PCLL. I would have said they were the big winner in the BU win over BC. Here is why: If BC is 11 and were to be upset in the tournament, they might fall to 14, and then the AQ would bump a #15 Florida. However, at #!4, if BC losses again to another unranked team in less than 2 weeks, they will fall out of the top 16, Florida will move up, and the AQ will take BC's spot, not Florida's.

Now as far as an upset in the LSA. Texas A&M's profile is consistent play over non-ranked and close play in loses against ranked (minus possibly against the hot/cold lindenwood). If Texas A&M were to lose at #13, here again I'd predict they'd take a big hit, because they would no longer have the consistent resume. They'd fall either out of the T16 or to #16 where the LSA AQ would bump their own conference member.

Finally in the PNCLL. Here I believe Oregon needs to win (obviously) or a close loss to SFU - a loss inwhich they must lead for some considerable amount of time -- and not just 1-0. If they meet these requirements, then I think they can jump Florida. A loss without making it a game will cause them to stay put or drop. The big thing here is, I would predict, is the box scores have to show Oregon had a good showing in the game, they won't be helped by word of mouth.

Oregon should not be in the tournament if they lose to SFU. I don't care if they are winning by 10 at one point. They ain't good. Plenty of teams deserve consideration over them.

When It comes down to it, I agree. There is something to be said about playing ball when it is time to play some ball. I don't know anything about UMD, but their record doesn't really impress me. And watching them in the tourni last year, I kinda thought the same thing. On the other hand the Devils pooped on themselves in the game v CSU, so we didn't look all that great either. But a very young team last year, now has an appearance under there belt. It's a new thing for the Devils, and they are ready to play. Know what to expect and that you can't let anything down.

Question for the poll:

What happens to the top 5 (6) rankings if ASU beats Chapman in the final of the WCLL (assuming that they are both there)?

I think they match up very well together. I would kill to be able to see them (hopefully) play in the WCLL Championship game this weekend. Both teams have tremendous talent on offense and improved defenses from previous years... I think i would give Chapman the edge at the goalie position however not by much.

IF ASU wins i see them moving up to 3 or 4 probably 3, with Michigan still at 1, UMD (undeservedly) at 2 ASU at 3 Chapman 4 and BYU 5 .... now if BYU wins the RMLC tournament in impressive fashion i think they move to 4 and Chapman drops to five. Ultimately i think that UMD should be the 5 either way, but since they won't have lost i have trouble seeing the pollsters dropping them (despite them not playing any games recently, especially against decent competition).

But like everyone has said, playing any of the 1 thru 5 or 6 teams this year is going to be 'ridiculously' challenging... some of us CAN spell out here in the west :)
