I justed talked to me friend about this, and they said that everyone was without power, but they were well stocked for the evening :) . I think cell phone coverage may be poor also because I could barely understand her.

It literally rolled through the downtown Ped Mall, the heart and soul of Iowa City. Apparently much of it is blocked off and the National Guard is already in town to help clean up and make help assist anything else. Also some gas leaks in the area too.

Muscatine, IA got hit pretty hard tonight as well. Reports on the news tonight of tennis ball size hail. All we got in Moline was rain and heaps of lightning.

Sorry to hear about the destruction, hopefully not too many injuries.
The one picture that shows the Tudor house with part of the front missing...is it just me, or is it always weird when you see a house exposed like that? It just seems totally incongruous, like your whole life is on display to the world.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- Tornadoes tore across a university campus overnight, ripping roofs and walls off a sorority house, homes and apartments, crushing cars, and killing a man in a mobile home southeast of town.

More Pictures.....Iowa Avenue got hit hard, a lot of old houses. Plus, St. Patty's church which is very old had its roof ripped off....sorry I keep posting on this as I am sure some don't care but this hit me a little bit harder than I thought.

St. Olaf was supposed to play Iowa today.

it also reminds me of fight club when his apartment blows up and all his stuff is out for people to see. Including the fridge full of condiments.

To get an idea of the size of these storms that rolled through last night, check out the radar near the end of this video from the Weather Channel. I've not seen cells that large and powerful before in a long, long time.
