Berkeley spent $93,000 on police overtime to control the Marines protest outside City Hall Tuesday, a city official said.

About 140 Berkeley police officers worked at the protest, which drew more than 2,000 demonstrators from around the country, said Mary Kay Clunies-Ross, public information officer. There were four arrests, all misdemeanors.

You're right! That's a bargain compared to what we, as American taxpayers have paid Halliburton and KBR to rebuild Iraq after we went and destroyed their infrastructure. Or for all the FEMA trailers rotting away on the Gulf Coast.

Notice how the SF Chronicle reporter termed it "Marines protest" as if the it was the Marines who were doing the protesting. I believe it would be more accurate to say, "Berkeley spent $93,000 on police overtime to control those protesting the Marines..." but then, I didn't major in English or journalism so what do I know?
