div 2 playoff structure

div 2 playoff structure

Postby Steno on Fri Feb 29, 2008 6:20 pm

So, I'm sure this has been addressed at all the meetings and maybe even somewhere else on the boards, but I was curious about the PNCLL playoff structure now that we no longer have a geographic distribution in Division 2.

I'm guessing that the two teams with the best records will get the 1 and 2 seeds and a bye from the semi-final round.

Number 3 will host 6, and number 4 will host 5 for the semis.

The winner of 3v6 will play 2, and winner of 4v5 will play 1 at the Final Four in Missoula? Or is that the opposite way around?

I don't want to worry about tie-breakers at this moment, but is this how it goes? Or am I way off?

Thanks!

You are correct...

However, I believe the #1 seed plays the lowest seed left in the semi's... So they would never play the 3 seed. I could be off here, hopefully Jason or Dan will clarify.

If the 6 seed beat the 3 (obviously very possible this year), the six would play the 1. But if the 3 wins, & the 5 beats the 4, we would have 1 v 5 & 2 v 3. Tie breakers are going to be a mess this year.

I think Wish's cat should decide. We strap team names to different mice and let him at it.

Kyle is correct in that the #1 seed plays the lowest seed left in the semi's. Last year we were the 6 seed and played the #1 seed Montana in the semis. Hope that helps.
