Amazing episode. If only someone hadn't ruined it for me.

I'm going to throw something out there. Does anyone remember in season 3 or 4 when either Avon or Stringer's people were looking for Omar at the gay bars? The camera scanned the bars and Rawls was sitting at the bar. Does anyone think this will come up now that he took over for Burrell?

i think the gay angle will definatley come up now that rawls is the big tuna.

One thing is for certain.......they are going to show how the cycle continues and there's always someone to take the old guards place.

Interesting analogy with Burrell discussing the mayor's involvement in police work. Joe saying that Burrell was in the Glee club was perfect.

Favorite term came from earlier season when the Senator would say "sheeeet". Really dragging that "eat" out. Love saying that!

I don't know what to think anymore...it reminds me of how I felt watching the mess that was the last season of the Sopranos. Too many story lines spinning around towards what we can only hope will be some conclusion. Characters going nuts, outlandish plots, etc...but I'll keep tuning in because of the elements that are still so solid.

Omar: I didn't know he could fly. The scene was great until that moment. I thought he was done before they even entered the apt and then the look of pure terror on his face as he cowered behind the couch gave me a real shiver. Then he's through the window and over the balcony like Bruce Willis in Die Hard, huh? In order, anyone else out there seen what a plate glass window does to the human body? My man Omar is one lacerated banger who is now trapped on a balcony as three of the worst shots this side of the French Army are moving in. And now he leaps over the edge but there is no sign of his broken body 5 stories below...what happened? I read somewhere that there were shadows in the scene that suggest he swung to the next apartment but that's a little thin for me. Regardless, why is Omar now an action hero?

McNulty: This whole plot line is thinner than Barack Obama's resume (I keed). The one redeeming scene was the look on McNulty's face as he realizes that Templeton is just as full of it as he is.

Clay Davis: Sadly, I think this is the most realistic aspect of the season so far. Of course I grew up 20 minutes outside of Marion Barry's Washington DC so I'm used to this sort of thing.

Marlo and Company: Absolutely carrying this season in my opinion, much like Avon and his crew carried seasons 1 and 3. One complaint is that it seems that the writers have gotten stuck in some New Jack City style with this crew. The writing about Avon showed the many facets of the game and his entire family/circle's involvement without glorifying any on over another. I actually cared about kids in his crew like D'Angelo, Bodie, and Poot. Now with Marlo, all we really get is that he is a ruthless thug who kills, kills, kills. It's too much the traditional gangbanger image. I'd like a little more character development here so I can hate him for a better reason than he is so cold hearted, i.e. remember the Kwik-e-mart security guard?

Why I keep watching:
I care about Omar and want him to have his revenge.
Can Michael be redeemed? (me thinks not)
Will Dukie escape?
Can Bubbles keep clean?

The rest of it still makes for a good show but sadly, Season 5 will be the weak link in what could have been the greatest show in history.

still think its the greatest show in history but the wire may have jumped the shark when omar jumped the balcony if he is not dead.

i've never warmed up to the mcnulty thing. the clay davis thing is cool. agree that marlo's crew is not as developed as avon's was. i watch because i want to see snoop and chris get theirs.

Stryker, you'll need to watch it again. There was definitely shadows and you could see him hiding down a few flights and over the right. With his trench there was a little flying squirel thing going on.

I agree about this season to some extent. Just hoping I'm not getting my hopes up too high for this great finale. For those that are just starting to watch this show, I know there's a ton of people saying how the heck did this get labeled the best show on TV. Watch seasons 1-4 if you want to know. You have to anyway if you want to know what's going on in season 5.

There was some good and bad to those characters, I think that is the attachment. Marlo's crew aint got no ethics. They kill people for possibly talking smack. There's my 2 cent pop psychology for the day. Wallace was a really tough one to watch too.

I loved the Davis stuff last week though. Davis going back to his "base" and hitting the airwaves. Finally someone has the balls to depict and show what is considered taboo or too touchy of a subject. You have to admit that the Wire writers are amazing at weaving story lines. Butchy's boy and Omar are in the Car and Davis is on the radio drumming up support. A little suspense with how Marlo is communicating at the end was cool too. I think I know how he's communicating with the Greeks, but I'll sit on it. Freeman's all over that.

That is pretty good, but I think I like my coaching staff to be Stringer, The Greek and Vondas - These three have the smarts and motivational skills it would take to lead a team

William "Bunk" Moreland (All-City Attack)
Nick Sobotka (Over Ziggy - Ziggy is that kid that paid the dues to play, but has no toughness, he gets bullied over)
Preston "Bodie" Brodis (has a lot of heart and is a downright soldier on the field

Midfield -
McNulty - But because he is good at creating situations to score (or to have a mass murderer on his hands)
Chris would be good, but only with running mate Snoop on this line.

Sergei Malakov - this dangersous russian gets a lot done
Avon Barksdale - a Lax team is like a family and Avon would protect His family.

Goalie
Dennis "Cutty" Wise or Michael Lee - Their Boxing prowess and great foot work would make them natural Keepers
