Baggy pocket
Do any of you guys have a problem with your pockets bagging out in different climates? I try to tighten my bottom strings but that doesn't really do all that much. Do you have any tips on how to fix them? I was thinking of getting that new brine mesh that isnt suppose to change in weather.

I've seen poor reviews of that mesh, but in Washington, we have to deal with that quite a bit. Without seeing your stick, I would guess that your mesh isn't as stretched out as it could be, or your leathers are also not as stretched out as they could be. Sometimes tightening it to legal, and beating on a wet pocket can do it, and other times a minor tightening of the sidewalls will also get it done. This is why, as much as I would like to be lazy and use the prestrung sticks, I have to restring them regardless. I always end up with a screwed up pocket if I don't do it myself. From my experience, every team has one or two great stick guys... Buy him lunch, and send him home with your stick. Good luck.

Going from humid to dry climates cause havoc on lots of different mesh. Some mesh works well in all climates but goes bad after one season. But the mesh that breaks in the quickest, stays the same in rainy weather and dry atmospheres is something called "canadian" mesh... not sure if it's actually from canada, but it works well in most environments. Plus it bags out nicely for middies.
Do what you ought to do, when you ought to do it, whether you want to or not, no debate!

I use a pita pocket strung by Bacharach if my memory serves me. Pita pocket is traditional but strung a little different. We had a 2 game road trip (sat and sun games) this weekend and I was stick-checked in both games. On saturday it was wet and my pocket was fine, no penalty. On sunday it was wet again and my pocket was illegal (too deep) by about 1mm. So either L.A. refs suck and have no consisitency to their calls or the 2nd time I was stick checked the ref pounded my pocket. Either way it means L.A. refs suck!

I have never used the same piece of mesh for a whole season. I am usually stringing a new stick every month. When I was in high school I went to the BYU lacrosse camp and an old BYU player (Rex Hardy) said that he strung a new stick about once a month, because the mesh just wears out. I went home, learned to string, and now its seems like i am constantly stringing new sticks. I couldnt imagine going a whole season with same mesh though.
You know something that would really make me applaud? A guy gets stuck in quicksand, then sinks, then suddenly comes shooting out, riding on water skis! How do they do that?!

I really hope your not serious. The leathers stretch, and water is only going to make it worse. It's just the nature of the beast. Catching a pass can stretch it out, I've even seen power cradles make sticks illegal.

What? I have never heard of that.... I heard mesh is suppose to last at least a year, not a month, wow. In this link E-lacrosse says some players use their mesh for 4 years.

I don't think that baggy pockets are that good. It all depends what you like and are comfortable with. I love when the ball just flies out of my stick true to the target that I am aiming for. I can't shoot true with a baggy pocket.

Fresh Mesh
Stay away from the "Fresh Mesh", Chris. A bunch of the guys on our squad tried it early in the season and we found that it really doesn't hold a good shape.
